First I would relax the 1st 2 fingers of his left hand. Try holding a pen in your hand as if it were a cigarete. The natural relaxed state of the hand would be to have the fingers curl inward slightly. And because a cigarete is relatively light, there is no need for a crushing hold on it... so loosen the fingers a little. If this is a "bad-ass Mobster/government dude", he would probably be supremely confident in his abilities. Thus, his whole body language needs to relax. Roll the shoulders down about 5 degrees, bend the elbows slightly, and shift his weight onto one leg. And last, in keeping with the attitude, give him a cocky half-smile, or stern frown. You've an interesting character going there. Good luck completing him.
Looking good. But unless he's about ready to take a puff, relax those 2 fingers a little more. Now lets look at the balance of the body. Try taking the same position your guard is standing. Note how having both arms forward while resting most of your weight on the right foot is slightly awkward. We move in opposites. That is to say, when our left foot is forward, our left hand shifts back. This gives us balance. Same thing with static body position. If most of your guard's weight is on his right foot, then try shifting the left arm back. If you want to keep the cigarette in view, bend the "forearm" to about 45degrees and twist the "shoulder" about 20-30degrees. He's gaining life! Keep at it!
What hair are you using? It looks like you haven't applied a transmap to it.

You just can't put the words "Poserites" and "happy" in the same sentence - didn't you know that? LaurieA

Sweet. Looks great! Three things you can do for the hair... 1) as ernyoka1 said, if you haven't already done so, apply a transparency map. 2) if you wish to keep it white, apply a high-contrast .BUM file so the strands will be hinted at, or 3) if color is not an issue, apply a color texture map. I look forward to seeing your finished product. Good work.
