This image shows a more comprehensive young adult Vicky 3 shape I've been working on... the collection of morphs required to build her has gotten bigger, but I've found that there is room for quite a bit of work on creating the late adolescent shape. Much thanks to Cris Palomino for pointing me to a wonderful pile of reference material! You see, it's tough to find nude images of beautiful young women without the tidal wave of porn that usually accompanies it, and most of those "teens" are in reality closer to in age to the Pope than 17-23. :O Of course, I could walk around the school where I teach and start eyeballing the young ladies there to get an eye for proportion and shape of women that age, but that would prolly get me fired (artistic protests notwithstanding), so I obviously am not going to take the 'direct reference' route this go 'round... perhaps when I go to research old folks I can wander around the administrative offices there? Ugh. Forget I said that. :) I've still got some work to do on this particular body... this time (by suggestion), I'm shooting for a softer body form, something more rounded and much less lithe or willowy. Any and all suggestions are naturally welcome. (incidentally, the background image is my default for the Poser workspace, and was taken by me... IMHO, grey sucks.) /P

How did you get V3 so tiny? Looks great.

She is actually taller than the regular Vicky (see picture) :) when I'm done, I can compensate for this by shrinking her in the overall Body Scale - 91% would be about right to make her a petite young lady. Right now I'm working on proportion, and I find it easier to get her all set up at full size (and the mesh is much kinder, too :) ) A lot of it has to do with proportion - the head got bigger, naturally; this helps 'shrink' the body a lot without actually having to shrink it. I also stretched "Paige" (her working title) to 105% on yScale, but reduced the yScale on the thighs (and xScale on her upper arms.) I large part of the illusion is to make the neck thinner (in spite of the bigger head), the chest and upper torso slimmer, but keep the thighs and legs somewhat the same as on the default V3. The hips were tweaked like this: WaistNarrow: 0.388 HipNarrow: 0.088 HipSmall: 0.572 This combination does well to help the hips blend into the waist a bit more, and to get rid of the "childbearing primetime hips" (Poppi's term) w/o making her look anorexic or male. Believe it or not, I never even touched the "Skinny" morph dial (I did inject it in case I needed it, but apparently I don't :) ) I'll post the full parameters when I get her done to satisfaction :) /P

Ahhhhh the art of illusion! Really looking quite good. Image looked like one of the mill girls nice and petite. Looks like I'm gunna have to take some time and twist n turn some dials. I haven't had the time to really see what all V3 can do yet.

She looks about 12-14, based on body proportions.

Maybe I grew quickly and perhaps most girls I grew up with did the same, but I've been relatively the same size and shape since I was 17. Mostly, my hips widened a bit at about 19 and my chest (which is anything but petite) has lowered a bit, and I've put on a few pounds throughout my hips and thighs. This is mostly due to a slower metabolism and gravity. I'm 24 now, so I do remember my 17-23 years well. The young lady you've created is lovely and quite different from the normal Vickie in all her incarnations, a very wonderful character indeed. However, as mateo_sancarlos has said, she looks like she's in her very early teens, not almost done with them.

I have to agree, she looks pretty young there. Marque

I think the image you posted in the previous thread was closer to the 20 range than the one at the top. Her head looks a little big IMHO, and her waist is a bit straight. She looks more 15 to me than 20, but, admitedly, interpersonal variations can make big differences. Some people look mature even at a young age, other's keep a childish look well into their twenties. I've tried to guess the age of the girls I saw on the beach last summer and failed very often...

Here is an image of my own researches in this field so far.
Girls numbered 1 and 3 (from the left) are based on Vickie 2, girls 2 and 4 are based on Millenium Pre Teen.
In my opinion, your WIP is closer to the real look than mine : I always tend to do comics like characters.

Good luck. Hope you'll share the results of your work with us.

rwilliams ( ) posted Sun, 16 February 2003 at 4:40 PM

That looks great. Did you make her by tweaking the standard morph dials? If so, she looks real good.

Penguinisto ( ) posted Sun, 16 February 2003 at 5:28 PM

file_46346.jpg

rwilliams - yes, I only use standard morph dials, nothing more. I had checked out a resource of reference images at http://www.domai.com/ and tried to get a norm as to the body shapes found there. (WARNING: That link leads to nude female photographs, though I can assure you that they are NOT pornographic, nor are they erotic. Oh, there's no crotch shots to endure there, either.) It seems that the majority of 17/18 y/o women are a bit softer and rounder than most folks realize... Compiler: yeah - the waist is much straighter in this one, and I know full well about mis-diagnosing the age of a young woman. I teach in a school full of 'em, and it still amazes me how the younger ones look older, and vice-versa. Clothing only serves to confuse the prognostication further :) I just used the Domai site (the one referenced up there) and mentally calculated an average (the models there are all 18 and up, so I at least had a baseline to work with :) ) Now, the image in this post I aged down to 15/16 years (in my estimation), based on the references on the Domai site, just to see if I could do it :) The major differences here involve adding mass to the thighs/hips/legs and shrinking the chest a bit. From the looks of it, vicky 3 can fill the gap (if done carefully) from puberty on up, about where the PT Milgirl leaves off. If you add breast morphs to the PT Milgirl mesh, and include the DAZ Ultrababy and PS Milgirl, you can have the entire range of female humanity from birth to death to render :) /P

rwilliams ( ) posted Sun, 16 February 2003 at 5:31 PM

Would you be interested in sharing the dial settings? I could sure use such a fine character. Just wondering. Thanks!

I had a LOT of help... If you want to thank anyone, thank Cris Palomino, Calypso, and various other folks over at Poser Pros who, with constructive criticism and a lot of resources, helped me squeeze a diamond out of the lump of DAZ coal we all like to call Victoria 3 :) /P

Dizzie ( ) posted Sun, 16 February 2003 at 7:38 PM

I agree, she doesn't look 17 yet and if she isn't developed enough to have more hips then her breasts are too large.....she looks out of proportion

This is just a base... you are free to modify it as you wish (the very last image I posted is the 15-16 y/o body, as stated...) And yes, there are variations all over - feel free to modify to taste. Take a look around at the Domai website, Dizzie; the models there are all 18+ but not very many have the real pronounced hips, at least not what you would find in the typical 23-28 y/o range. The link will take you to an early attempt at the 17-20-something body shape...probably something more to your expectations, I think. The image at the very top of this thread is a less anorexic version. The last one is the 15/16 y/o range - I just wanted to see how young I could make her without tearing or distorting mesh :) /P

Penguiuisto,Two tips that might help.. 1)When your reshapeing the body.. your stareing at the screen, turning dials..which after awhile has a visual numbing effect. Take a break, and look at a more abstract image of your chacter.Perfect way to do this in Poser is to use the sketch style render.Save that image and play with it in Photoshop with just the eraser and pencil.Looking in an abstract way(such as painters often study their work with the canvas turned upside down)will show you how to better balance and refine your work. 2)While I just "play" with Poser(hell I've never even posted a picture)I've been photgraphing and studying people for over thirty years as a professional photographer. My youngest subject was in the process of being born, while my oldest was having fun at her 102 year birthday party. The one thing that I've noticed NOBODY ever pays attention to in Poser is posture..not poses, not body shape..but posture.Very few real people have the"stick up their ass" posture as portrayed in Poser images. Posture says so much about age.Take the gender and age group we're talking about...a teen girl's posture is almost what you would call"swayback".Her shoulders are back and down, her middle back and stomach are arched foward, while her hips/buttock is arched up.When she stands her hips are never straight, but tilted to one side(often very sharply)while one leg is bent(locked)backwards at the knee. While I've had Vic3 since she came out,I haven't had the time to fully explore her...but I'm going to try your dial settings as a start, then go to work with the ROTATE x y z dials for each body part to refine her posture. Didn't mean to go on this long, but it's Sunday and I'm still haveing "post NFL withdrawals"(what's that 50 yard indoor field crap about?). SWAMP

Sorry about this, but I just noticed the picture that was to go with my post didn't make it..so here it is. This isn't about the body shape(just the preteen with longer legs and "cupcake morphs")but the posture. The leg is locked back, the hip(actualy the buttock),ab,chest, shoulders, neck, and head are all bent foward or backward to get a more "S" shape posture. SWAMP

Penguinisto ( ) posted Mon, 17 February 2003 at 9:30 AM

Ah - coolness. I never really figured the posture thing out, since so many people carry themselves so many ways... Let me tinker with it a bit and see what I come up with :) /P

curtskinn ( ) posted Tue, 04 March 2003 at 1:02 PM

any chance of this being available in the marketplace for people to purchase for themselves?

Jaager ( ) posted Tue, 04 March 2003 at 3:19 PM

If this depends on on BODY Yscale - try this experiment: IK =off hip zrot =90 The figure's length goes back to 100%. The width goes to 105%. The axis for BODY are universe (stage) axis, not figure axis. Scale in BODY works because the change is identical in all three dimensions.

Those seem to require a lot of outside packages (Misty Blossom, Kalia, Cecily...) I happen to have two of the three chars required, but perhaps there is a way to use more standard morphs? (for breast morphs Thorne has an excellent free set at http://www.faeriewylde.com ) /P
