Make a great librarian???? Hello...have you been in a library lately? A good number of our local librarians look as competatively svelte (and many of them are male to boot) as anyone else. If she has a master's degree, then she might make a good librarian. If she has 5-10 years of experience in libraries, she might be a great librarian....might. It is experience, education, and ability to work with a demanding public that makes a librarian great or not. Her looks have NOTHING to do with it. I should know. I work in a library. I'm not a librarian but, trust me, I don't know any librarian that is any more flattered by stereotyping than anyone else would be. Lecture over. I'm going back to the stacks.
L Dialyn. Both on the likeness and the librarian bit. Actually I thought she looked like a librarian too when I made her. Anyway, I LOVE librarians - and libraries, so in my book there's nothing bad about looking like a librarian. But you're right about the stereotyping though. Only we ALL have our set of stereotypes, good and bad. Ziggie also pointed out that she looks a bit like Dame Edna, must be the glasses. Speaking of which, the glasses doesn't come with her, I found them here in free stuff recently. She'll come bald (and bold) and milkie white to you G - that's another way of saying that I haven't messed about with any texture for her :o) Those who has both Gertrude and that nifty texture converter (which I haven't) can of course turn Gertrude's skin into one that fits Bertha as well. Complete with her vascular veins and all giggle And to Dialyn and Dragongirl, the font is called Otherworld (with the in the end L) found it free somewhere. Probably Fontpool. Oh and she's in free stuff now :o)

Oh, I'm going to pick her up tonight. I can see her and Gertrude becoming fast friends (unless they get in an argument over Frank, which seems unlikely). I see coffee chats in the kitchen, don't you? Hate to bring this to people, but we have a couple of librarians that could out-vicky Vicky in the temple given a sword instead of a book in their hands. Now I do look like Bertha but I'm not a librarian, and I don't mind the resemblance at all. :) I don't have the converter but I'm sure I can find soomething around in my bag of downloads that will work. Those glasses did look familiar, now that you mention it. I'll have to pick them up. Great job! I love your real people. :)
OUCH! okay. Sorry about the stereotyping. Most of the librarians in my town are volontiers, and they DO look like Bertha, they are GREAT people doing thankless jobs, and I lov 'um to death. Very knowlegable people and I rarely have to use the computer catalog cause they know SOOO much. That's just my one man experience. Again, I did not mean any disrespect to anybody, it was just my 1st thought and MY experience. I love the character's look. Bring on the Rubenesque women, I love um. I'm gunna go sit in the corner now and see what my other foot tastes like in my mouth.
I love the character's look. Bring on the Rubenesque women, I love um. Now see, you made it all better with that one sentence. There was a very nice man that used to ride the bus with me. He won my heart (but that's all) when he said, "You know what I hate about young actresses these days?" He leaned a little toward me and whispered: "They are too thin." I could have hugged him. Which he would have hated, being gay and not at all interested in anyone female that wasn't in a 40's or 50's movie. Gertrude thanks you. Bertha thanks you. And my round little self thanks you.
I guess I should tell you all what my youngest daughter (7 years old) said when she first saw Bertha... "She's just as fat as you" Don't we all LOVE kids?!

Just tried and I got her with no problems. Please try again. Also there has in earlier occasions been some problems with Netscape acting up on my site. Not sure why, there's no fancy coding or anything. But try with Internet Explorer if you've got that.

Dame Edna Everidge is a very popular/famous female television character in UK renowned for her large and garish glasses (always different). She is of Antipodian origin (Australian) but is... in reality a guy Called Barry Humphries. Kinda complicated huh..? :)
"You don't have to be mad to use Poser... but it helps"
she's adorable. i am off to get her, asap. and, yes, she DOES look like dame edna. Sorry about the stereotyping. Most of the librarians in my town are volontiers, and they DO look like Bertha, they are GREAT people doing thankless jobs, and I lov 'um to death. i live in south florida...land of the implants. they hire, in the building where i work, here and there. and, there are different businesses in there....BUT...and, this is the god's truth...don't bother to apply(for even a cleaning position)if your tits aren't the first thing that a perspective employer would speak to...if your eyes tie with your tits, well, you might get a "wild card" chance". i often see folks asking for "practical, real world clothing" for vicki. where i live you could basically come to work in ashanim's new outfit, and, at lunch folks would ask you where you bought it. i think all of us, myself included, need to remember that our little corner of the world is not how the WHOLE world is. in iowa, or kansas, missouri....somesuch place, librarians, and the chicks who do the hair and makeup at funeral homes, MIGHT resemble Bertha. but, where i live...they library guys are mostly gay. she's a doll...and, a "must have" for me. i like her 'cause she looks both smart and silly....around here...that won't get you a job. it will get you your own business :*) thank you for this one.
And, Bertha, for all her size, downloads fast!!! Or she was just eager to meet Gertrude. I don't believe I would ever say my experience represents the whole world...it represents working in the 2nd largest library in California and the 5th or 6th largest city in the United States. But it is a Southern California experience...which is that librarians come in all shapes and sizes, male and female, gay and straight, and all diversities you can imagine. Stereotypes are convenient but not accurate representations of the universe. And in my beach town, I do not wear a bikini to work. Or skin tight fetish clothes. I don't think it is unreasonable to ask for some real life clothes for my real life world graphics.
In my imaginings, I might wish to look different, but I fear my reality is closer to Bertha that I would want to admit. But, you know, she looks happy, so what's so wrong with that? The Vickys in their skimpy clothing tend to look rather grim or, at best, stoic (no wonder....I'm sure that awful armour pinches horribly). I'd rather have chocolate chip cookies in Gertrude's kitchen then have to hang out in Vicky's barren temple. But that's just me.
Great news, Peter :o) Now I know what to tell people when/if that error pops up again. Also great news (I hope) to those who has bought Gertrude. Thanks to Pigfish, you will soon get a FREE V3 version of Gertrude's skin to slap on Bertha. I just need to make the proper MAT files first :o) And there are a few who has swapped/won Gertrude. If any of you sees this thread, please IM me. I can see who BOUGHT her but my rotten memory has forgotten who else have her :o) Of course all new buyers of Gertrude will get it as well ;o)
