It isn't as important to the guys because the social pressure on youth and beauty and being thin is not nearly as present for men as it is on women. Harrison Ford doing the cha-cha with Calista Flockhart is considered no big deal (in fact, he gets a big thumbs up for being an aging stud). Joan Collins waltzing off with her latest young lad is considered gross. Jack Nicholson can gain weight, be wrinkly, and fairly repulsive looking and still be considered a great actor (he is a great actor...attractive, no). There are no more than a couple actresses of substance who can get more than nods in supporting roles. I've been told by men my age than I'm a good friend but they DESERVE to be with someone younger. Not smarter, mind you...but younger. And, ladies, most advertising and fashion is controlled by men so consider what you're buying into is a sales song by these guys when you go in for your latest stomach tuck or botox injection or back wrenching high heels, or other ridiculous fashion of the moment.
