Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2025 Jan 11 12:18 am)
Anim8or definitely can make poser morphs. Whether the morphs look good is a matter of your skill and art. Other modelers can do it -somewhat- faster and easier, because they have a wider variety of mold and deform actions, but the process is basically the same. Sooner or later it comes down to moving one vertex at a time.

I make 90% of my morphs in Anim8or instead of using 3d max, but it's mainly furniture I do. For humans, there's a tutorial by Steve Shanks at Internet 3d eye. Link is above. macI got all excited about the possibility of learning something new. I gave up after 1/2 hour of fruitlessly exporting and importing Posette. There must be some major inaccuracies in Steve Shanks' tutorial. I see nothing when I load Posette into Anim8or. Oh but I can re-import the object file into Poser and there she is.

I once tried a tutorial for combination of two different body parts of poser people there - I think it was the casual lower part and the nude man upper part - but it didn't work out well, cause Anim8or is unable to seperate body parts by ungrouping them in the obj file format. It does work in 3ds file format. I never got any obj model to ungroup to work just with one part. Steve knows it but hasn't fixed it yet. I now am using Wings3D and am starting to learn Metasequoia too, which is also a free 3d modeler and easy to use. The only thing I really miss in Wings3D is the spline/lathe function, which Anim8or has. Making hollow objects like a bottle, vase, tincan or whatever is just a matter of seconds, whereas in Wings3D you have to chop out most of the stuff starting with a box or something else.peter, Everything that goes out of poser is tiny, because the poser universe IS tiny. When you import to ~Anim8or, first click on the 'eye' icon on the top left of the tools menu. A new menu will appear. Go to the 2 bottom squares of the new menu. The left one fills the frame of the current view (usually front). The right one fills the frames of all 4 views. Your object is there. You just can't see it because the frame is zoomed way out. DO NOT scale the object. If you scale, when you export the morph, it won't work in poser. mac PS Steve does say all this in his tutorial. On page 2.
Sorry peter, My apologies. I d/led the tutorial 2 years ago and it was in PDF format. On the html page it's the 3rd paragraph. Here's what it says. 'You can't see it so we need to zoom in by clicking on the eye icon followed by the zoom to fit icon (both highlighted below).' It's at the end of the paragraph and perhaps easy enough to miss, but there is a picture below it. mac PS That must be one of the slowest-loading sites on the net!
