Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2025 Jan 10 1:16 pm)
Mimic simply generates pose data for given morph targets.... Any "posable" poser figure can be used by mimic if the morph target names are correct. when V2 First came out, her eyes wouldn't blink with mimic because DAZ had renamed the morph. We (animators that is) edited her character files to have the old names back and mimc worked just fine.
Listing all of the characters that are Mimic-ready would take some time, so I'll just mention a few that didn't start out that way ....
I've personally created Mimic updates for:
WarriorDL's Yoda figure
Valandar's Land Dragon
Talon69's Mike the TV
the Poser wolf
DAZ's House Mouse (no easy task, as it didn't originally have a mouth)
And Furrette has been Mimic-ready from her inception.
I've made other figures Mimic-ready for my own amusement (Lemurtek's Lionheart, DAZ's Toonimal Puppy, etc.), but haven't released them.
In Free Stuff, you can find an update for Lemurtek's Tobi, courtesy of Redfern. The morph targets should work with the Poser cat, along with Lemurtek's Thomas, Guenevere, Arthur, Jezebel, and Ahab, should you wish to transfer them via Morph Manager.
JFStan also has updates for the raptor and dog in Free Stuff.

borogove (a.k.a. quidam, a.k.a. Lucas) created many of those Mimic updates for the animals. He's granted global permission to share his files, so if you're having trouble finding them, let me know. I have his Mimic versions of the dog, cat, dolphin, panther, and the first DAZ dragon.

Of all the really fun, fully posable, Mimic ready characters out there? Ive got a real hankerin' to do a long animation in Lightwave (I use propack) but my character modeling is in it's infancy (more of a fetus level of development) and realize that populating a whole animation with all sorts of interesting beings as well as sets, music, rigging, etc would be less of a pleasure and more of a chore. You know, like conversation ready cows, chickens, Aiko (is she mimic-ready?), iguanas, friendly looking other-worlders, etc. It would sure be nice to have a collection of really cool support characters. Favorites anyone? Something tells my that Little Dragon may have an idea or two...
