Hello all. I made a few animation clips in carrara and making the final movie in ulead video studio.Want to output it to vhs tape.Need help,as to ,video hardware to get.Anyone have any luck in doing this.What hardware works to get the animation movie out of the PC,on to tape. Thanks d.

dka, For home use I use Formac's Studio DV. It imports and exports analog video to DV and back to VHS. http://www.formac.com/p_bin/?cid=solutions_converters_studiodvtv Other units include the Dazzle's Hollywood DV Bridge which does the same thing. http://www.dazzle.com But, I cannot fully recommend either of these units. I bought the Formac first, and it had great output (which is what you want) but the capture on it had a small amount of video noise. On the other hand, I also got the Dazzle and it had great capture but not so great output (even after sending it back and getting a replacement unit. So, I gave up trying to get anywhere with either company (terrible customer support)and ended up keeping both, using one for capture, the other for output. :-( So, judging from what I have learned, I would say the Formac had the best video output to tape, but that's just my experience. Got a dual head/TV out graphics card? You may be able to get the movie to playback to the second head. If so, just stick the VCR on that (with a TV so you can see what's coming out) and record that. Probably no sound unless you also shackle up your sound card outputs.. Mik

I use the Canapus ADV-1000 and it works great for both capture and output. This is on a Mac system through firewire (IEEE-1394.)

I use Matrox RT2500 system for video output. Works great, but fairly expensive type for just occasional/ casual video cuts. Suggest you get a list of TV Out systems at your local hardware shop, and look up reviews online for each by the people who use them. This is my usual way of shopping nowadays. Don Have a great day

Thanks to all ,for your input, on finding an answer for my tape issue.I am rocking and rolling now,the solution was the video capture card.Thanks d.
