THE PLACE FOR ALL THINGS BRYCE - GOT A PROBLEM? YOU'VE COME TO THE RIGHT PLACE

Subject: New to Bryce!

Just bought bryce and am totally new to it. My question is when the Bryce screen comes up how do you utilise the 'Help' and 'CorelTutor' aids off the menu bar. I click on them and nothing happens. I've tried going online to access them and still get nothing. I'd be grateful of any advice. Thanks.

Hmmmm.....when you click those off the help menu it should bring up your browser since these are html pages. If they won't work from inside Bryce go to the folder that you installed Bryce in and look for the help folder and tutors folder. You can open the files from there in your browser. Be sure to visit www.corel.com to download the 5.01 patch (I assume you bought Bryce 5). Welcome to your new addiction! :)

Forgot to mention when you get the chance go to www.amazon.com and get "Real World Bryce 4" by Susan Kitchens if you decide you really want to get into how Bryce works.

Thanks for the replies. Yes it is Bryce 5 and the files are in the folder as you said. I can open them that way but it would have been more convienient from the menu bar. Not bad, I've hit a problem on installation, can't wait to see what nightmares await me once I start to use this thing! Anyway, off to load that patch. thanks again.

once you get the hang of it, the only annoyance is waiting for the Renders to finish..;) so git yer mirror-ball on! (for some unknown reason a lot of us seem to go through the 'mirror ball' phase at first...sorta like Poser folks with the NVIATWAS (someone in a temple, with a sword..;) welcome to the club, you don't have to be crazy here, but it helps..;)

I wish I'd said that.. The Staircase Wit

Renders! Since learning about 3D artwork that's the one word that keeps cropping up. By the way I didn't buy the Kitchens book with it being for 4; I bought the Bryce 5 handbook by Shamms Mortier. I hope it's a good book!

Render is the picture you get once your scene is finished being built, incase you didn't know. :) As for RWB4, even though it's for 4 it all applies to Bryce 5 and IMO is a lot better than the handbook. The only things you won't find in RWB4 is the tree lab (good tutorial at www.brycetech.com) and metaballs (lot's of info on this forum, search "metaballs"). RWB4 is almost 1000 pages going in depth on how things work, what doesn't work the way the manual states and lots of examples, tutorials, etc as well as a content disk. All for a very low price. I think I should start getting commission for every RWB4 I get someone to buy. LOL

Thanks for the invaluable info., Aldaron. I looked at the book in Amazon, read the reviews and was tempted but in the end I went for the associated book. I'll go with that for now then maybe attain the Kitchens book. By the way thanks for the link. That Brycetech looks the part!

You should put the manual up for sale and buy RWB4. RWB4 is indispensable for working in Bryce and a lot of the answers to questions that are asked here come from that book. Anyway welcome to Bryce and I'm with Aldaron I think I too deserve some commission for promoting the book. 8) Cat

Also make sure you get the 5.1 update from Corel's site. I think it solves the can't open the help file as well as some other things. Happy rendering! Peggy
