In my day, when dinosaurs roamed the earth, that was called a Gamin cut. Not sure why, considering what gamin means, but that's what it looks like to me.

I remember that has a "pixie" cut...

Momcat ( ) posted Thu, 13 March 2003 at 10:32 PM

Pixie Cuts are a bit shorter and have no length in the back. This is a Micro Shag but which is just a Pixie grown out. The key is that: Intersting Fashion Facts: The Pixie got new life in the early to Mid ninties when the hairdressers chopped all the hair off the fashion models. It was all the rage at the paris and New York shows. Gucci made it famous in their now famous "Come back" show. One fashion writer wrote in "W" magazine: "It was a flashback to visions of Halston models stepping over the velvet ropes at Studio 54". The male version gave rise to the George CLooney "Ceaser". "Demi Moore was in "Ghost" that year and Madison on Melrose Place made the cut main stream. Kate Moss was the "It Girl" with boy hair. But the following season there was a horrible crisis in fashion. All the models had no hair! So there was nothing the hairdressers could do but just let it grow untouched as fast as possible. This haircut you are showing is that cut. A few months later the cut was long and shaggy. The revival of the "Shag" the next year was ineviteble since there was no other cut to choose from. So the Shag was destines to return after every wave of short hair. This is when "Friends" started and soon the long "Reachel" shag replaced the short "carol Brady" shag seen in the movie that was released. In retrospect the post-pixie was renamed the "Micro Shag", "Short Razor Cut", "Anti Hair" or "The Tinkerbell"(Julia Roberts had this cut in HOOK). -On a "Pixie" the back is shorter than the front". -On a "Mullet" the back is the longest part of the haircut and the sides are as short as the front. -On a "Modern Shag" everything is almost equal. Hope this helps and was entertaining. :) Anton

Lol. I was a pretty famous hairdresser at one point. :) Here is a pic of Helena Christensen who made this style famous both then and now. She loves short hair. Here is also a cool hair reference link

The pics are neat but the tech info on that pages isn't really accurate. Some pics are in the wrong decades. Pixies can't be tucked behind the ear. Shags are worn that way. Though echo was probably asking who made this hair and what name they gave it? Anyway blah blah blah. Got carried away. Gave it all up to do Poser. Imagine that.

Twiggy Hair had a life of it's own, which then moved to the wedge cut if I'm not mistaken.

"The pics are neat but the tech info on that pages isn't really accurate. Some pics are in the wrong decades. " That seems to be a general problem with hair info on the Net. Almost all of those "reference" pages get the bouffant wrong; they think it reached its zenith in the late '50s. Maybe that was true in the pages of Vogue, but among ordinary American women, the high point came in 1970.

"the high point came in 1970." The Hight Point?? Oh Please tell me that was not a play on words. I might have to make an even worse one. :)
