Subject: Monthly Challenge WIP, comments needed...

"This life pod is humanity's answer to its past, lest we forget the horrible consequences of war. May its travels be safe and its new home welcome it in peace." As it reads next to the NASA logo on the life pod. Lighting is not exactly perfect, I want some ideas, and also whatever else you might decide to nitpick on. Have fun. Drac

Looks Great D. Better check the rules though. I think it has to be 800x600 in size.

draculaz ( ) posted Fri, 14 March 2003 at 3:15 PM

it's a wip. i have to make some changes and then i'll re-submit it as 800x600 :)

it needs more of an exhaust trial, and the flame needs some blue smokey flame around it in my opinion.... maybe a few comets coming into the atmosphere?

Well you did ask for comments Drac. Think the thing about more of an exhaust trail, perhaps it could be fuller, more of it, various colors. But a beautiful planetary image so far. Cat

Sometimes I'm ashamed to be an american. I wish the world could just live in peace. Lately, I've been aware of how fortunate I am to be in a place where I can walk the street by myself and not fear an attack or a bombing etc. I am worried that my daughter wants to attend a college that is near DC. But what will be, will be. I am also afraid every time she is out driving. Mother's have no peace of mind. Drac. I love the concept here. I think that it will need more details or more colors or something to get the votes. However, I don't have any ideas to improve on this cause it looks fine as is. I'm still a bit of a newbie (even after a year) so all I can say is I like this concept and good luck. Ang

OK, comments...first, I love the pic...wish I could do a planet that well. Design problem for me on the pod. I can't imagine people in there...even in suspension mode..because the design of the craft looks like it would turn into a bullet once it reached the atmosphere of a planet and just pummel into the ground. It could also be a scale thing though too...is the "label" huge or is the craft more or less coffin sized?

Hepcatbrandon ( ) posted Fri, 14 March 2003 at 10:52 PM

It is a beautiful concept I think. It reminds me of an article I read about a satellite that was to be put into earth's orbit in a position so that it would fall back to earth in 2000 years or something. It would be like a massive time capsule. very interesting. The only things I would are make the thruster more subtle. And I have a problem with the lable on the pod. looks kind of like a candy bar wrapper the way it is put on. Maybe make it slightly smaller and without the rectangular border; more like a decal.

oops... sorry Claymor, didn't read that last part about the label

Very well done! THe planet is especially good. I think a little more detail on the pod might improve things... The Bryster

I agree with the others, the planet is way cool. The pod tho, lacks a certain sense of scale, be it large or small. I think the label may have something to do with it. Also, unless this was just launched, most spacecraft rely on their orbits and gravity to guide them. If the pod is on reentry, why not put the gas jet facing the planet? A retro rocket?
