Subject: Renderosity server down?

Was just wondering if it was just me or did everyone else experience not being able to log onto Renderosity?

hyperborea ( ) posted Sun, 16 March 2003 at 2:43 AM

Nope, overhere (The Netherlands) all works fine! W&M

AgentSmith ( ) posted Sun, 16 March 2003 at 2:52 AM

ditto, here

Quest ( ) posted Sun, 16 March 2003 at 3:10 AM

Well, after posting this I noticed the times and dates on recent posts here and have come to the conclusion that we had a partial outage. Some people obviously have been able to post while some others did not have availability.

AgentSmith ( ) posted Sun, 16 March 2003 at 3:14 AM

Noticed that too, especially in the galleries. Some pics have been uploaded during the time I couldn't get on, etc. AS

Oh my, and I thought SQLxxxx was something strange in my PC... I really ought to learn something more about how things work out there... Unable to check in for the most part of yesterday night. S.

tjohn ( ) posted Sun, 16 March 2003 at 5:27 AM

Me too. Received no messages from Renderosity either during that time.

And now I can get back on I don't know how my IM's stand, cos I've lost all track of them. Its knocked of all my little boxes at the top.

???? Little boxes, archives? What are you guys talking about? Chohole is on the same server/host?

AgentSmith ( ) posted Sun, 16 March 2003 at 7:05 PM

I think chohole is talking about the grey box that IS the I.M. Right? Archive; everytime you click "Reply and Archive" or just "Archive", that I.M. is saved in your Instant Message Archive. At almost the top of this site is the word/link "Instant Messaging", take that and then click on the word/link "View My Instant Message Archive" Any I.M.'s you saved will be in there. AS

Ahhhh...I see! Gee, hope she didn't lose anything. BTW, does that also go for your "favorite artist" and their galleries? Let me go see if mine are still intact.

pauljs75 ( ) posted Sun, 16 March 2003 at 7:42 PM

Well next time that happens... Pull up that little run box from the start menu. Type in cmd or command... Then in the screen that pops up, type in: tracert www.renderosity.com. Then you can see where the trouble is. If somebody else is getting in and you're not, it's gotta be one of the router servers. You can also try ping www.renderosity.com from the window too. It gives a quick reference to how quick you connection is. Then to get out of the command screen, just type exit. Pretty cool eh?

The trouble spot must have been a good chunk of the U.S. Not good when this happens, especially on a weekend. And not much anyone could have done to prevent it.
