On my oncoming New One I'll have an ATI Radeon 9000 64Mb, now I have an old ATI rage 8Mb

Erlik ( ) posted Mon, 17 March 2003 at 3:59 AM

Nvidia GeForce2 Ti 200 64MB, also because of gaming. Plan on buying a new GeForce FX optimised for GL rendering. Saw a demonstration of some 3D program using its features and was impressed. Instant rendering of colours, textures and lights. And upcoming 3D programs will use the feature, like Daz Studio, for instance. The demo card is already optimised for 3D Studio, Maya and similar, though.

NVidia Geforce 4Ti 4600 128 Ram (too bad bryce won't take advantage of it ... =-(

Rayraz ( ) posted Mon, 17 March 2003 at 5:11 AM

An old (almost fossilized) VoodooBanshee PCI. Bryce doesn't use the Vid-card for the final render so it's low-priority on my upgrade-list.

ATI Radeon 7500 w/ 64mb DDR ram. An excellent card for all around performance from gaming to dvd. Also has tv tuner built in with remote.

Incarnadine ( ) posted Mon, 17 March 2003 at 11:34 AM

MSI's G4Ti4200-VPT w/128 Mb DDR. (I do a bunch of gaming on the side)

Pass no temptation lightly by, for one never knows when it may pass again!

they have some 9700 & 9800 reviews @ ati's page

Rayraz ( ) posted Wed, 19 March 2003 at 7:26 AM

ATI 9700PRO is just slightly slower then the fastesr of the new G-forces. It's one of the fastest cards on the market. (unless you go with the higher-level cards like the wildcat)

how about the reliabilaty of the G-force? what company is that too?

NVidia makes the GeForce chips ...different companies make the rest of the card. Mine works great! as far as reliability

Rayraz ( ) posted Wed, 19 March 2003 at 12:44 PM

NVidia usually has great reliability and usually the drivers are better then the ATI drivers. ATI usually still has crappy drivers wich don't let the card use it's full potential when a new chip comes out. When the new chip is on the market a little longer the drivers are updated and the performance of the card is much better. NVidia's drivers usually work great. I know someone who uses NVidia-drivers on 6 different OS's and with multiple monitors and it usually works fine without problems. The New GeForce chips are very expensive. If you go for the mid-budget speed cards the ATI 8500 is great, as are the GeForce 4 cards. If you go for optimal speed/value for money balance you should check some reviews.
