Yes I have CD burner and I have a few things on CD, but if you need to backup gigabytes of data (only my vue scenes -finished and "in progres" were about 3 GB) its faster and easier use secondary disc. I had 30GB IBM which I used as removable backup disc for main 80GB Barracuda IV. Unfortunatelly, when this happened, both disc were inserted in PC.
Btw, power supply was from Morex (http://www.morex.cz/case.php?id=43)
Now I think about UPS :)
That's very bad Norbert. I'm sorry for you. If we can help you for things we all have collected once, just tell us, we may help you to find or get back several free things. I had this problem some month ago and it "broke" every thing in my computer too. Fortunately I had a back-up and since I have bought an UPS. Buy one, absolutely. Guitta
I have 100 gigs here and I still use tried and true cd's I drag them into a folder and when they get to 650 meg about I burn a cd then start over again. It's goes fast if you keep stuff up. Like don't wait till you have 3 gigs unbacked up. You could always try to get that dir recovered. Cost a couple hundred bucks probably. Seems to be a trend now power supply goes and takes the hard drives out. I just fixed one power supply hard drives and mother board. Toast. No back up and they had a high speed burner too and too bad but about 3 years of data on the drive no backup. Too bad it's gone now. They could have made a copy in aboout 2 mins if they would have used there heads.
Dear Norbert, That's very bad to hear - once I also lost everything - a virus deleted everthing on my 2nd harddrive. It will take some time to get everything back but you should always think about that your arts is in your brain and that vue or any proggy is just a vehicle to express it! So try to smile ... Ich leide mit! Bernie

Dear Norbert, same happend to me about a few weeks ago - it was an IBM-harddisc like yours. I was very frustrated, because I saved my projects weeks before. So my work, my projects - you must know, I am an architect - were lost for ever. Some projects I have to create again, but I fortunately have papercopies of them, so it is much easier to do this. Many scenes of Vue are also lost - but this is not so dramatic. I think, those things happen to everybody anytime, so, don't worry and start your work again. We are just learning.... regards Irene
Hi Norbert, tough luck! Really sorry to hear that. But is there no way of recovering the datas? Or is a true head crash? You know that there are companies that can recover nearly everything. But thats not cheap so normally you are using those only for very important data. If you are interested, let me know. Kopf hoch! Gre, Walther
One day your ship comes in - but you're at the airport.
Sorry to hear about your accident. It has happens to me also in many different ways. Last year I bought a usb backup drive with UPS on the power supply from my computer. This drive is 300 Gigs and it automatic back up everything I do in my computer. So when the lightning strikes in my home's electrisity sytem, the computer burns but not the back up drive. a more expensive sollution is to buy a UPS who are so big that it can run your computer to a normal shut down. If you do this you should never more be afraid of what can happen in your electric system.

Hi friends.
It seems that you will not see any new image from me for a long time.
Due to short circuit in electricity network I lost my power supply and both harddiscs (main and backup disc accidentally left in machine)
I lost all my scenes, textures, models, e-mails....I lost my computer identity LOL.
Anyway, show must go on, Im starting again from scratch but of course it needs time.
Take care.
Norbert.
