THE PLACE FOR ALL THINGS BRYCE - GOT A PROBLEM? YOU'VE COME TO THE RIGHT PLACE

Subject: The quest in Venetia (Monthly Challenge)

This is my first entry in a monthly challenge.

They wanted some meta-balls (the lamps), some textures on objects (the walls - here, I have to thank animax.it - the floor is my texture), a texture on a 2D-object (this is from a photo, which I've made in Venecia, two weeks ago) and of course no postwork.

I hope you like it as much, as I do. (I've mixed it with my holiday-pics and showed it to some friends and nobody noticed, it is a Bryce-pic!)

Looking mighty fine. You could subtitle this the quest for big hats.

Ok... now I know I'll never win... ;-) I love it!

Way way good work, gsb!!! Only thing: why that wall behind them? They seem to be walking from it. Maybe repositioning it a little further back? And your friends are right. This is incredibly realistic. Stefano

Exellent! fantastic work. But what's the quest-part? A quest for realism?

A quest to find their way back to the main street? Good picture, I love those wacky lamps! Lin

wow, this is really weird. Not in a bad way, just completly different then anything i've ever seen. i've never seen distortion like that in bryce. Got my vote!... BTW, how did you do the clothes? I think a lot of us would love a tut.

Whoa! Great! Nitpick time: the barrels. The metal hoops are way too shiny and way too big, the ribbon and the rivets, both. And the slats are too obviously artificial. Animax has some great metal textures for the hoops, as well as some slat-like wood in the wood part. BTW, really, why's the floor distorted?

I like the floor distortion. Many streets like this would not be even or straight. Very cool wit the lamps and such. One suggestion: You could try making a transparency map for the people so that their clothes would show through slightly, like where her dress is on the left side.

Great work but a strange piece...how did they get there? There doesn't seem to be any door.... What are they doing there? We could argue about the barrels, but I accepted them for what they were. This whole thing has a kind of surreal feeling to it and I just can't shake that sensation. I think we have a winner here if for no other reason than its quality. This really is fine work and I don't say this often but I am impressed.... The Bryster

Thanks for all you comlpiments! At first: the barrels. Shame on me! But sometimes I don't take the time to bring some things to end. Second: The wall behind them leads into a floor at the right sight. For me it was always there, because I created it, but you all are right - it isn't easy to see. Only if you look at the roof, you may see it at the right side. Third and last: The quest! Big smile What may a couple search for in Venecia (I still don't know, if the english word is Venetia, or Venecia or maybe Venezia - maybe Doublecrash (the man from Italy can help me))? The romantic version: love. The criminal one: They are a gangster-couple, looking for someone, to steel his money. Economic: They are thirsty and are following the watercourse to the spring. Funny: they are searching the creator of those ugly barrels... I could go on for hours with reasons, but decide yourself. Once again, thanks you for your compliments!

Knowing a bit Venezia (that's the italian name) they are searching for a way out from the labirynth that Venezia is... Elrik: you asked why the floor is so bump.... you have never seen the real Venezia...... BTW, i love is as it is, yes some improvement can be done but we all know that an image is never finished..... :-) Thank you for share gsb

They actually have just come from around the corner. If you look just below the man's elbow, you can see a patch of light from that part of the alley. I think they are on their way to the Italian version of the sort of party or club that nice people shouldn't be going to. Lin "Tell them Mr. Smith sent you, and they will let you in."

Vasquez, don't worry, I did see. Been there, found the way out and didn't get a t-shirt. :-) And if we're going by the real Venice, there's something missing on the floor. :-D
