Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Nov 27 2:10 pm)
Well there is a ton of great stuff in freestuff here. I'd look for the Vickibuster texture to start with. (for the p4nude fem) Try reading through the newbie tutorials listed in the backroom. Generally, you can only use a texture on a model it is made for. Poser (with patch) takes jpg, tif, bmp, etc for the map, reflection map, and transmap. It can convert any of those fileformats to the BUM format which Poser4 uses for bumpmapping. Most freestuff supplies jogs which you will need to convert to BUM in Poser before using the files, as BUM files are very big. Also, you need to change the surface color of the model to white for the maps to show up correctly. And you will need to do that for all of the material groups. When you're feeling more comfortable with Poser, you can go serach out AprilYsh's P42Vskin character, which is a version of the p4nud fem who can take all of the lovely Victoria textures you see out there. Hope that helps some, and feel free to ask questions. We were all new once grin Lyrra

I've had P4 for a while now and because I dont have the money to let myself become addicted to it right now I havent properly stocked it with alot of the necessary goodies available at Daz3d like you pros do. However I just bought Bryce 5 and am now wanting to learn how to do certain poser things like how to apply a texture the right way, or what the difference between a bump,Mat,or texture is. Pretty stupid arent I? Whenever I go to my render->materials> window, and load up some textures they usually either dont do anything noticable or they completely make the figure look wrong. I dont know when to use a bum file or when to use a jpeg. Can anyone shed some light on these newbee problems for me? One more question, How do some of these artists using poser make their characters eyes look real as opposed to the standard poser 4 (vacant) look?
