I am texturing this fine b26 model for rhinofalcon from the rhino forum here. The panel line bump mapping would come out alot better if I could turn on premium antialiasing without crashing my machine. I will try to render this on another machine later tonight and see if I cannot get better looking panel lines.

great looking plane! :)

Thanks treemont. It is rhinofalcons modeling. I am just doing the textures.

Phew, thought I was in trouble there for a moment ;) Texturing is looking good. If you wanted to jazz it up, you could make a eurpoean theatre of operations version like in the link below. http://www.constable.ca/marauder.htm

Why not make the panel lines bump maps too - that will help define them and get you past the potential aa problems. Of course in real life that plane has all kinds of problems with real AA ; )

Actually I see you did do a bump map - bump up the res in a paint program like photoshop if you have it. You'll need at least a 1024 pixel and maybe even a 2048 map to get good looking lines. If the panel line map gets too blurry when rez'd up just use levels to sharpen it back up. Hope this helps - Scott

Thanks everyone. The maps are 1200 x 741. I finished a premium aa render earlier at 2400 x 1800 size, then resampled it down in photopaint and it looks much better. I am doing another one now with the final version of the maps with tail number and mission markings ( little bomb icons under the canopy ) I will post it in the morning. I agree about the pilots and gunners. I will have to whip some up in poser using Robert Sharkeys free USAF fighter pilot figure. Thanks for the link Flak. If you have any more please post them.

Some pics I found showing the markings that the planes tended to have drawn all over them -> Good one for an idea as to how visible the panel lines are on the plane: http://b26marauder.com/b26/b269.html The European Theatre of Operation markings, side on: http://b26marauder.com/carolyn/carolyn2.html The US loved putting markings onto the noses of their planes.
