Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Nov 24 8:11 pm)
That's like asking "Where can I get some sea shells?" when you're standing on the beach. Start with the Free Stuff area here. There are thousands of models here. Then scroll down and look at the links called "Web Ring Top 15". These links will take you to sites where you can find dozens more. Your list of links and quickly grow to hundreds. But the first place you want to go is: www.rabbitsoft.com and download the great utility apps created by MartinC just for Macs. Then come back here, scroll down the list on the right side, and check out the Macintosh forum. Welcome & happy hunting! ; )
Don't sweat the petty things, and don't pet the sweaty things! ; )

Well, "knapp daneben ist auch vorbei" as we say in Old Europe... :-) Try this: http://www.soft-rabbit.com And welcome to Poser! Cheers, MartinCYou can also pretty much ignore all the Poser models that says "PC only" - I've yet to find a PC Poser model that I couldn't get to work on the Mac, with one exception, the very rare cases where the models are stored as PC .exe files. Also, there's a free area at DAZ and they also have the Platnium Club - there's a yearly membership fee but there are some really great Poser models for $1.99. -Dan

Another Mac person...welcome :) RDNA (see link) is debuting Real Deals this week: I think it was $2.50 for a really neat product that's only available for 30-90 days.(Also check out their awesome freebies!) And PhilC does basically the same thing, though his dynamite first offering was for V3. Also, the quality of freebies varies widely...if you keep browsing the sites you hear about, you'll soon have a personal list of high quality modelers and texturers. At the top of my list at the moment is Virtually Historical. On another Mac-related topic: if you aren't running OS Jaguar, Poser4 can behave strangely. I just upgraded and it's like having a different P4 entirely. Also be sure you've got the latest version of Poser...a patch is available at Curious Labs site. And give Poser all the memory you have, after allowing for the operating system's needs, when using the Millenium models. Oh, and do a search here in the forum when you have a question--you're very rarely the first to ever have asked it!Well, I also just upgraded to Jaggy, and its really cool. Cute buttons (lots of eye candy). I'm not certain about the Poser 4 details (forgot it already) but I'm pretty sure its newer. I have 512mb ram, and a 80gb hd ;D Boy am I all spiffed out! =D I'm going to see if I can bum money off my parents so they can get me that Daz3d plantium deal. Its 100$ to get it, and from then on you either get 30% off or something for 1.99$. To get anything off the net, I would need access to a credit card (no more $$ left from buying p4). I kinda doubt they'd let me o.o;. Also, is it very hard to make your own model/texture? I've been looking for some tut's on that here, and so far I haven't seen a thing, just a facial texture tut. If it's not to hard, I might try my hand at it. Oh and... mac's rule =^^=. sorry, couldn't help myself. :)
The Platinum Club is the best money I've spent on Poser! You might email DAZ and see if they accept PayPal or another form of payment besides credit card$. Making an original model, from what I've heard here in the forum, is best done in a modeling program. If you do a search, you'll turn up many, many questions on the subject, plus opinions on the best apps to use. And some are free! And several have their own forums here to go to for technical advice. To make a texture, you'll need a paint program like Photoshop or PaintShopPro. It's possible that one came with your Mac, so check, since they're expensive. And there is a texturing forum run by a real pro over at Poser Pros, if you want to check out the actual techniques used. Oh---and do sign up for the newsletters at places like here and at PoserPros and RDNA, since freebies are frequently included in them :) And Macs DO rule!

Ok here's the deal. I blew all my money on getting Poser 4 and I have no money left for any daz3d things... nada. I've looked for stand alone models, but most of them aren't quite... good looking. Not good quality I suppose. Btw, I'm a total newbie, feel free to poke and prod at me for being a complete idiot on terms for Poser ~_~; Basically, where are some good stand alone models, or good addon's for just Poser 4 models?
