A very good effort Rayraz, the shadows in the second one are really good and you should try sketching metals for some serious light and shadow work. I used to sketch my mates drum kit, you know the chrome bits round the edge of the drums and the stands when I was at college. I'll see if I can find some of them and let you see. Cat
hi mate, hope you'll accept some tips from a draughtsman and amatuer artist. try being lighter with the pencil to start with then building up, remember where the light is coming from, cause its the shadows that can really bring a drawing to life, your perspective is v.good, but dont forget depth, the objects far away should not be as heavily drawn as those close to. oops have gone on a bit, here have a look at www.dchiang.com - the studio tips section, very concise and informative and simple to follow.

I like the second one. Good perspective and feeling of "being there". I agree with some of the other comments re light and shadow. Don't be afraid to have patches of pure black for shadow or pure white (i.e no pencil) for bright light, just like you would in an atmospheric Bryce render. Also, perhaps a little softer shading; try using a 2B or 3B pencils and moving in very small circles out and around a central point, lightening the pressure as you go. Hmm... pretty difficult to describe in words ;)
very unique textures, will they be in freestuff?... excellent render...what settings did you use?... might bring the broom down a bit on the y-axis and rotate it around the x-axis to make it look like it's leaning against the wall more. nice lighting in the bottom pic... how long did it take to render? what's a pencil? :)

Can't find any of my old sketches, I think they are probably in my mums attic. Anyway this is one I posted here a while back, it was a sketch done for a painting. If I can find the photograph of the painting I'll post that too. CatThanks for all your comments and suggestions. I have been away for a few days, so I couldn't respond faster but all your opinions and suggestions are greatly appreciated. And Tuttle, a picture would be great, just like Catlin said. I think I sort of know what you mean, but visual reference is always the best reference for me.
