I take it you're talking about that EXCEPTIONAL Millenium cube??? That is a MUST HAVE!

SAMS3D ( ) posted Tue, 01 April 2003 at 8:55 AM

what is that? a cube that what you can put any picture on and it will be usable as a 3d model? I read it all, and seem to get it, but not quite sure. Sharen

DCArt ( ) posted Tue, 01 April 2003 at 8:56 AM

Hehehe ... keep in mind what day it is ;-)

barb ( ) posted Tue, 01 April 2003 at 8:58 AM

Is this a joke item or something I don't understand? Or, obviously, both :)

amon_g ( ) posted Tue, 01 April 2003 at 8:58 AM

The millenium cube even has a T-Bone stake morph! That would be perfect to use with Sharen's Bar-B-Q ;) Thanks for the laugh DAZ! :)

DCArt ( ) posted Tue, 01 April 2003 at 8:59 AM

Yeah, and it also comes with 500+ morphs! ROFL That is just too funny. 8-)

amon_g ( ) posted Tue, 01 April 2003 at 9:01 AM

Did you see the small print on the last page of what you can do with the cube? "*Morphs not included" D'oh!

Blazerwiccan ( ) posted Tue, 01 April 2003 at 9:02 AM

Read the fine print: "Ultimate Morphing* Hi-Res Millennium Cube OBJ and PP2. 26,136 Polygons. 26,666 Texture Vertices. Perfectly Flat UV Mapping. Completely Aleviates Any and All Texture Smearing or Stretching. 500+ Morphs*. See Pop-ups For Extreme Versatility *Morphs Not Included." So all that but Morphs are Not Included it has to be a joke lol.

DCArt ( ) posted Tue, 01 April 2003 at 9:04 AM

Dang, and I REALLY wanted to see if it had a dodecahedron morph!

barb ( ) posted Tue, 01 April 2003 at 9:05 AM

LOL! Man, was I in the dark. :)

LaurieA ( ) posted Tue, 01 April 2003 at 9:09 AM

Hehehe...it's nice to see that some people have enough of a sense of humor to poke fun at themselves! LOL. I looked on the site early this morning and saw this - almost forgot it was April Fools day ;). Laurie

I don't know what you people are talking about. This is the greatest model since the House Mouse Here's my very first morph for the UMH-RM3! (WIP) I think I'll call it UMH-RM3IATASAM (Ultimate Morphing* Hi-Res Millennium Cube in a Temple as a Marshmallow) In free archives soon.

ROFL!

RaVan ( ) posted Tue, 01 April 2003 at 9:44 AM

*morphs not included

JohnRender ( ) posted Tue, 01 April 2003 at 9:55 AM

Now, if it had 65,536 morphs, then it would have been funny! But, I can buy a hi-res cube at Turbo Squid for $100 and I can use that for commercial renders. Is DAZ's free model worth it? Personally, I don't see the advantage of not being able to use something without restriction. And what if I make my own model from the cube? Will DAZ let me re-distribute the base obj file?

Marque ( ) posted Tue, 01 April 2003 at 9:59 AM

WAIT A MINUTE! THIS is a BLATANT rip off of my own ULTRAMORPHING ONE-SDED SQUARE (c)!

DrunkMonkey ( ) posted Tue, 01 April 2003 at 12:27 PM

Dang, and here I am still waiting for the Millenium Tetragon! When oh when are you going to give it to us Daz???? ;-)

dialyn ( ) posted Tue, 01 April 2003 at 12:44 PM

Don't tell anyone, but I hear morphs will be sold in the Plantinum Club so that the Millenium cube can be morphed into a Millenium cat and a pair of Millenium pants for the V3 male.

pigfish ( ) posted Tue, 01 April 2003 at 1:00 PM

Pokeydots, don't feel bad. I fell for it, too. It's a good thing we have a sense of humor. I'm presuming this really is a high res cube since the information is there for the prop. I even downloaded the texture map. It still might come in handy for making a pair of dice.

xoconostle ( ) posted Tue, 01 April 2003 at 1:58 PM

There's no need for a Millennium Tetragon. You can morph the cube to be one. Anton is working hard on some sort of "dial" technology that allows you to change the number of facets quickly. As I understand, there will be tras maps released later in the week that put "holes" into the cube so that you can make Swiss cheese for the HouseMouse. There will also be faery wings and anime eyes for the cube, since that will help to put sales over the top. I am not looking forward to seeing what the Renderotica merchants are going to make for this extraordinary model. Run away! Run away!

amon_g ( ) posted Tue, 01 April 2003 at 2:10 PM

Wow! The Millennium Cube is awesome! I did this all in Poser with the Cube. No drunken nights in New Orleans, no photography or postwork at all! Thanks DAZ!!!

ROTF! And the download is over 800k but the cube is only 6k! LOL

xoconostle ( ) posted Tue, 01 April 2003 at 5:00 PM

Now wait a minute, Anton. Those textures bear a STRIKING similarity to BeBop's "White Cow Eating Marshmallows in the Snow" textures. What would cooler say? :-)

Orio ( ) posted Tue, 01 April 2003 at 5:23 PM

Yep Ernyoka, in Italy we call it "pesce d'aprile" (April's fish) :-)

Little_Dragon ( ) posted Tue, 01 April 2003 at 6:18 PM

I didn't want to say anything about the UV-mapping, because it's clearly a masterful job of distortion-free unwrapping, but there's an awful lot of wasted space on that template.

While obviously meant as an April Fool's gag, using magnets, one can create some nifty abtracts! Yes, I admit I downloaded it. I wanted to see how far DAZ would carry the joke. You have to admire the staff going the "whole nine yards." Dan Farr and the rest of the gang at DAZ, I salute you! Sincerely, Bill
