We are creating a new mod role at Renderosity. A freestuff mod. Please welcome caleb68 as the new freestuff mod! Caleb68 will be moderating the freestuff area. This should decrease linking to inappropriate sites, linking correctly to the download, copyright issues, and content in line with our TOS. If you have any questions regarding the freestuff area, you can continue to use this forum or IM caleb68. Coming sometime next week, we will be changing the way the freestuff areas works and will be implementing an approval process for freestuff uploads. We will continue to have issues with member bandwidth limits, but should be able to decrease issues with everything else. Welcome aboard, caleb68. tammy

Have fun caleb:-). I'm cleaning up with much attention our Vue Forum since yesterday, so you will not have to do much there when I have finished (two more days maybe to see every thing):-) Guitta

When will you start hosting the freestuff thumbnails? That idea has been in the air for a long time. What happens when the freestuff moderator is away from his computer for a while? (business, holiday, etc.)

gebe ( ) posted Sun, 06 April 2003 at 3:59 AM

Anthony, then some other mod will do his work. We are a team:-)

We will not host thumbs at this time just trying to get a better freestuff system in place. thanks tammy

Apart from the moderator, what will the differences be? What will be the likely delay between (someone uploading a model) and (that model appearing in the freestuff)?

The thread I mentioned this in was locked prematurely but as it has to do with free stuff, I'll re-quote my suggestion here:

"So, how about something like I suggested in my post above? Infringements reported to a Mod who takes down the file in question and contacts the infringer. There he/she can learn the actual intent of the person, perhaps maintain a record of the infringement for future purposes and then inform the public in a locked thread that such-and-such file contains copyrighted elements and should be deleted if downloaded.

It certainly seems fair to the first time offenders who might truely not know and would keep the mob mentality threads to a minimum."

That thread is just one of many and they all wind up locked or threatened with the key. It would seem that an actual policy makes a lot of sense compared to the way it's handled now.

I agree with you. This is mostly done this way now. But should make it even better with the appropriate communications in place. thanks tammy
