Subject: Will Poser5-made figures work in Poser4?

I created a poseable figure in Poser5 using a customized OBJ file and the Settings Room. Will it work in Poser4? I know that there were some changes made in how the CR2 file reads the OBJ, And that Poser5 no longer utilizes RSR files. I don't own the previous version and can't test it myself. I appreciate any help you can give...

I've been able to open Poser 5 pz3's in P4/PP. There is an error message that says its a newer version and poser will try to open it, then pretty much opens it. I haven't tried the dynamics from P5 in P4, but if its the type of scene file that only uses P4 items then everything seems fine. As for the rsr, P5 will read those. Linking the runtime library to the P4 library with rsr's in it works just fine.

I just tried it with the Don casual figure, dynamic hair, and dynamic cloth and P4 can't find the geometry file for Don. It did bring in the cloth as a solid object and brought in the head putty but not the Don body. I've done this before with Vicky and whatnot that are from the P4 runtime linked library and like I said, the regular P4 stuff comes in as long as the geometries are in the P4 runtime folders. Haven't tried it with animations yet. Best wishes to you.

Oh, the dynamic hair did not come in either.

If you want the "Newer version that expected" message to dissapear, change the version in the cr2 (or pp2) to 4.01 Easy done with notepad or similar text editors.

You just can't put the words "Poserites" and "happy" in the same sentence - didn't you know that? LaurieA
