Subject: Where Can I Get Everyday Clothing for V3

pookah69 ( ) posted Fri, 04 April 2003 at 8:07 AM · edited Fri, 10 January 2025 at 2:19 AM

It's amazing--I searched the marketplace and DAZ's clothing site. There is almost NOTHING available in the way of clothing that is not intended to make Vicki look like a high-fashion model or slut. Can anybody suggest a source for (non-skin tight) jeans, casual tops, etc.?

dialyn ( ) posted Fri, 04 April 2003 at 8:24 AM

If you search the Wishing Well, you will see a whole thread on this same subject. There are some real life clothes around (notably at Poser World--Steve Shanks is my hero; he really responds to requests) but not many. EdW has done some freebies. It's a real hunt. I'm bookmarking in case someone comes up with some new sites. Daz is supposed to release some clothes at some point and is looking better with a jacket and pants outfit with a separate shirt, but it's out of my price range (and I'm not sure how flexible the outfits are as far as body types). It's been very frustrating. I know exactly what you're talking about.

I will check those resources out. Thanks for responding, dialyn. It's nice to know there are others who share this frustration. Judging by the V3 stuff posted in the gallery, the available clothing options for V3 shouldn't come as a surprise. After all, demand drives the market, and V3 is apparently a fantasy outlet for a lot of hetero males. (I'm not saying this to be inflammatory--some of my best friends are...oh, never mind!)

Well, here's a hetero male that would rather have real clothes for V3 than slut stuff. I've generated some great things with what I've gotten from DAZ... the Sweetheart dress has been fun, but is a little, uh... short. I'm looking forward to the promised dress from DAZ this week. It is a step in the right direction.

I know what you mean. I tend to want to create somewhat realistic scenes and having endless swim suits and high heels does nothing for me. By the way, if you look in my gallery, the last two with human figures (the ones about Sebastian and Samantha) show EdW's clothes. I'm not saying they are great graphics, but they do have examples of a couple of his outfits, and he has added jeans and a shirt. Link above. :)

The morph dress is up but it is more of a ballgown kind of thing. It's gorgeous but I couldn't wear it on the street without getting the hem dirty. I haven't bought it yet so I don't know if they have a way to shorten it or not. But it is better than having multi-collars and masks. If you aren't doing fantasy these days, you're out of luck in the clothing area. I have nothing against fantasy. I love the graphics people are doing. It's just nice to have some choices.

Ok no one has said it so I will.... PoserWorld. I got a lifetime membership specifically because of the complaints you have listed. I have scrubs, picnic dresses and flat shoes (me getting old and 4" heels were never my forte!) good stuff for kids, mike, steph, posette, scenes, props, etc. Steve Shanks just put out an update email as they have been having problems with server but should be up now at http://www.poserworld.com (is I just checked). I cant emphasize how wonderful this sites stuff is. (ps lifetime is now only $150 but they have 3, 6 and 12 month subscriptions)

cruzan ( ) posted Fri, 04 April 2003 at 9:18 AM

ohh, just saw $5 off subscription when using coupon from http://ultimateezine.com/GMPStore/ - just in case U R interested. Good 'till 5/1/03

WHAT? No temples? no swords? Who ARE these people that they would insult the proud naked heritage of our beloved slu-- uhm, lady who just happens to be so very free and accomodating with her body?

Crescent ( ) posted Fri, 04 April 2003 at 10:23 AM

Just make some transparencies for the Fantasy Dress and it will work nicely for business dress. A 3 piece suit would be nice, though. Cheers!

FWIW, all the scrubs I've seen look like they're a) one size too large and b) more "crumply" than conforming due to the rough cotton. The armholes are too large on purpose for maximum mobility, the pant legs are too long and typically crumple near the sneakers, and in general the whole thing looks like it was made from blue or green (never white) paper bags. Anyone interested in coming up with believable hospital scrubs?

dialyn ( ) posted Fri, 04 April 2003 at 11:07 AM

I said PoserWorld, really I did (see message #2). He is really the best source for real life clothes. And, yes, the subscription is worth getting. First rate stuff and a wide range of offerings. Absolutely top of my list. I wear scrubs and they look a lot like Steve's except that they are in different patterns. They have different versions as far as armholes go, but they have gotten much better looking then they used to be. My scrubs are in wonderful patterns...the days of only having blue or green have are over. I don't work in a hospital or for a doctor or for a vet, I just like the comfort of scrubs, the durability and the wonderful choices of patterns. "Just make some transparencies...." sigh. It always sounds so easy and I end up with such unappealing results.

Where can I find the slutty stuff? It's not for me it's for a friend. :o).

I'm working on some length transparencies for the dress. I did a minor dumb-dumb last night, so I'm redoing a few things, but I hope to have it up this weekend. Cheers!

Great news, Crescent! Thank you. :)

I agree with you, pookah! PoserFashion has five free dresses and a shirt & pants set that should serve you well. No morphs on the shirt or pants, unfortunately, but the dresses have quite a few.

PoserWorld, PoserWorld, PoserWorld!!! Yaaaaaay Steve!!! Little cheer for the "end of the week" :) Best money I ever spent! Thanks for that tip Lisbeth!! Yaaaaaay Lisbeth!! I'm another "practical type". I did get the dress from Daz....have not played with it yet. Will be checking out Crescent's length transparencies when they're posted. I can barely figure out how to work Poser, much less create adjustments for a dress! :) I suppose the one consolation is that the stuff I like the best is generally free or close to it! Poser Fashion has some nice stuff as well and I also like EdW's stuff.

I guess I must buy scrubs at a different place than you do. Mine are not made of rough cotton but a fine finished cotton. There are a lot of sites, but the one attached will show you some of the prints I see on the racks. Very cool stuff (and very practical for hot summers when I don't want everything skin tight). I wear them. I do. I work in an office, not a hospital. And they look fine there. Leaving that aside, I'm glad I'm not the only one who has problems with transparencies and such. I'm just glad there are such amazing free stuff out there (and, considering how much I download from PoserWorld, that nearly is at this point if you work it out on a per item basis). Still and all, I get tired of page after page of high heels and teddies and corsets. I feel like I'm forever on a treasure hunt for something of substance. Sigh.
