Subject: Keep ladynimue in your thoughts

In her area she is getting creamed by a major ice storm, our area also is getting nailed, but her's was hit bad this morning, no power as far as I know of and ours is in and out, so just a thought to keep her in your thoughts, I am sure she is cold. Sharen

dialyn ( ) posted Fri, 04 April 2003 at 3:00 PM

I wish I could send you both some California sun. Thank you for letting us know. I sure will be sending all good thoughts her way.

SamTherapy ( ) posted Fri, 04 April 2003 at 3:08 PM

Wow, thanks for the heads up, Sharen. It's unseasonably warm and sunny over here in the UK, so I'll send a little of it over. :)

For the last 2 days I had to chisel my car out from under a centimeter of ice....before I go to work, and again for the drive home. I thought someone said spring is coming soon? Rawnrr

genny ( ) posted Fri, 04 April 2003 at 3:18 PM

OMG..........thank you Sharen for letting us know. I live in California, too, and although it gets "ugly" where I am, ( cold, damp, glum, not what you would call or think that California weather is) I can't imagine what it must be like for those who live elsewhere. I hope all of you who are "affected" by this, are OK, and hope to hear from you all soon. (: Genny

pendarian ( ) posted Fri, 04 April 2003 at 3:20 PM

Oh I definately feel for you guys....been there done that. We had an ice storm about six years ago that left us without power for over 5 days..it was horrible! My thoughts are with both of you ;) Pendy

Marque ( ) posted Fri, 04 April 2003 at 3:22 PM

Must be Northern California like me genny....lol Sending sunshine and thoughts her way, and yours too Sharen! Marque

dialyn ( ) posted Fri, 04 April 2003 at 3:24 PM

Okay, I'll send them some Southern California sun, which is what I am enjoying right now. A bath of warm light to embrace you and keep you safe.

genny ( ) posted Fri, 04 April 2003 at 3:36 PM

YUP.........I am in Fairfield, Marque..........northern California! (: For me it could be worse.........I grew up in San Francisco.............and I don't think I ever spent a summer there...........I always thought, if it isn't raining then it must be summer! LOL! Genny

Marque ( ) posted Fri, 04 April 2003 at 3:52 PM

Close to you, on the other side of Sacramento. Maybe we should grab coffee sometime. Marque

Rhiannon ( ) posted Fri, 04 April 2003 at 3:54 PM

Oh no ... so sorry you guys are having to endure such an ice storm in April. I'll make sure and keep Lady Nimue and all of you in this storm in my thoughts and blessings ... wish I could send some Tennessee springtime that way. :-)

I'm originally from northern California (born in sacramento, raised in Nevada County), but I've lived in Pennsylvania for the last 18 years. Cold as hell here, after a nice sunny week. Seems like it can't decide if it wants to be spring or winter...

Hi geoegress, Sounds like you're north of 696 up in the ice warning zone, I'm down here in S Wayne Co. where we just have freezing rain advisory :-| Can someone tell me where spring went? :-

quixote ( ) posted Sat, 05 April 2003 at 1:31 AM

No. NO. NO! Don't send too much sunshine!!! If all that snow starts to melt too fast, we'll need power boats. Snow up here changing to freezing rain in the morning.

I could send some sunshine, we're up to about 12 hours now. Not too warm yet but it will be soon! At least that's what they say. At least they didn't get the winds that they got down in Anchorage a couple of weeks ago, 100mph is pretty gusty!! Stay warm.

Okay got our power back finally, that was a long weekend, but Ladynimue I am pretty sure doesn't have any power yet, they have sent up some help from some other states to asses the damage and help. Thank you for all your thoughts. Sharen A couple of images from Friday and yesterday, from the newspaper

Then real problem is not in our area, now that the ice has melted it did so much damage to power lines those poor folks are not going to get there electric back till maybe the end of next week. Our power lines are underground and our transformer is above ground, so when the transformer went out, we just had to wait till we got another one and that was late lastnight, but ladynimue has above ground power lines and fixing that will take some time. Sharen Looking for spring, love the pics above

Anyone remember me? :-) I live almost right on the shores of Lake Ontario. I live off the road in the middle of the woods. I am surrounded by 50' Pines and maples. As far as the eye can see. It's an amazing place and very unique and beautiful. Until Mother nature decides to use those pretty trees as weapons. ;-) I'm guessing Lady lives near me in Wayne County somewhere. We were the hardest county hit by the storm. But I was one of the lucky ones that the power company restored first. My driveway is very long. It's .01 of a mile long! On Friday I had 8 trees down blocking my way out. After I spent all day cutting them up to be able to get out. Twelve more trees fell by the next day! I spent all day Saturday cutting those ones up. I'm so tired I can hardly type. It's really bad here in upstate NY. It looks like a bomb fell on my street. But my neighbors have been supplying me with chainsaws, Generators, and ATV's to help clear the debris away. The Tops grocery store is open. And using a generator to operate. It's like shopping in a dark, romantic restaurant. ;-) God bless those brave folks who went to work there when their own homes were under natures attack. My thanks go out to all the Rochester and Buffalo people who have banned together in this disaster to help eachother out. -ScottA

SAMS3D ( ) posted Sun, 06 April 2003 at 8:59 AM

Oh Scott, I am so sorry, I guess with all the ice I did forget about you, you poor dear, you did get hit hard. My mom is out by you and she refuses to leave her house even though it is 45 degrees inside. We do have heat now, and I am glad you are okay, was there much damage to your home? I hope not with all those trees, you must be so exhausted. We went out yesterday to help our neighbors who lost 3 pine trees, and I am pooped, I can't imagine how you must feel. Do you have electric yet? I know some in your area did but many didn't. Sharen

SAMS3D ( ) posted Sun, 06 April 2003 at 9:00 AM

And yes bravo to Scott to mention all the help we did get from the close and far areas, we appreciate your help. Also, I have to say my electric company did a fine fine job helping us. Sharen

ScottA ( ) posted Sun, 06 April 2003 at 9:19 AM

Lucky for me. My house and the trees around it are untouched. Wich is amazing since they are some of the tallest ones around. RG&E restored my power late yesterday afternoon. They even put the lines back up on my house. I'm back to normal. But thousands of people are not. Including my mother who lives more towards the city. I haven't looked in my driveway yet today. I don't think I could handle it if there were more trees down today. ;-)
