Subject: Freebie stuff for Mike? where

chohole ( ) posted Sun, 06 April 2003 at 1:28 AM Ā· edited Wed, 31 July 2024 at 8:38 PM

Loads of freebie site links have been posted re the April challenge. But what does one do for freebie clothes for Mike, without it being a simple shirt and jeans or armour? Any one got any ideas? PLEASE

Without a subscription site, I think you're lost-- almsot all my latest Mike stuff has come from PoserWorld-- Steve has posted a ton of useable stuff. Look at it this way, when you've paid once it feels like free. I'd honestly factor in PoserWorld and PoserStyle in the budget for anyone thinking of buying Mike. Otherwise you have a couple of shorts, a shirt, two or three pants, a sarong, sunglasses and a lot of helmets. Probably the only Mike easy to clothe is a barbarian warrior, since there are finally enough trusses, armor and loinclothes out there. Other than that there's probably one change of working clothes and that's it. Oh, Taura Noxx has a very nice outfit for the bishonen morph at Daz, but that's kinda specialized. Emily

Yep, I agree with Emily. Poser World is a real bargain, Steve makes fantastic stuff and there is lots there for Mike. Have a look first and you will see what we mean.

I agree, Poserworld is great, but if you're wanting clothes for the April challenge, as you mention, the subscription sites aren't allowed..... I use Mike a lot on rotica, sure I must have some freestuff for him, since I never have a lot of money :D I'll look through my archives and let you know what I come up with.

Thanks madrigal, what I am looking for is just a simple tunic type top. In fact a sweat top would do, because I am only doing a head and shoulders pic. I looked at DNA's turtle neck, but its not quite right.

OK, you don't want armor, so I won't list them. These are from my clothing folder. Except for the Romantix and what came on Phil's Compilation CD, and Anton's Egyptians, I've not yet bought anything for Mike. This list also skips everything from Traveler's Prop's Club. I don't download everything, just what interests me, but this is still an amazing collection of freebies by some very talented modelers! PhilC has boxer shorts and gloves and a cavalier hat. Somebody did a sarong. Thip gave us a leather jacket, long robe, hood, and mantle, and I believe that there is a base garment over at PoserStyle which needs a good trans and texture map to look specialized. The Napoleanic outfit over there probably has pieces which are usable for other periods. Lourdes has a bandana, rogue boots, sombrero and other stuff. EdW has baseball and basketball clothes and an outfit. Let's see... a biker jacket and cap... and a captain's cap, and a Greek fishing cap. Also a bobby helmet by Rays. Cybermonk did a couple of capes. Bernie made a conforming loin cloth with a mind of its own. :) PoserWorld's Cowboy Mike was a freebie as was the explorer set. Xurge did cowboy boots (in addition to all that armor I'm not talking about). RDNA has a cyberjacket and nice sweater and other things besides that truss. Ghastley has a duster for Mike as well as a cycling cap. Flak jacket and boonie hat from MCD. Fishing Vest from JTrout. More boots by Glidden. Little Dragon's "Daniel Boone" furry hat. Steve made a Grandad shirt. Melanie made a headband for him, and several of those flowery or leafy wreathes would fit, too. Marcabros and Lourdes have made jester gear. DAZ made a jester hat and Magic hat, and there are a bunch of elf caps out there. Isn't the Memorial Racing Jumpsuit for Mike? JW has a MikeOpenJacket. Helen has a hat. WarriorDL made a suit (slacks & top) and a turtleneck. Engleken's redcatsuit was free, as was Dodger's togo. Shadowcat made a robe from Thip's mesh. KrystalMoon made lots of textures for Thip's robe, too. His Legionaries would perhaps be counted under armor (oops!), but you might find adaptable pieces. Hmm... Robin Hood and Santa stuff. Royloo has some Chinese clothing which may be for Mike. Ajax has a space suit, and there are 2-3 space helmets around. I couldn't spot the Casablanca suit by Iso and Lovely Lady, but I may have renamed it (I didn't like the movie). Sandals and sunglasses and other accessories.... If all else fails, wrap him in Rubio's sheet! Carolly

Try a search here for Mike in Free Stuff - you'll come up with a number of clothing items. :) Irene

I forgot to add that PoserPros is offering a free Atlantian Guard fantasy armour set for Mike. PoserPros :) Irene

Pam, Sorry, cross-posted... but I know at least one other person who plans to use Mike, so the list may be helpful anyway. It's been several months since I scavenged through the 3dcommune site, so there is probably a lot more than what I've listed. I also left out several DAZ/Zygote items because I couldn't remember if they came off the CDs or were weekly free items. Have you looked at WarriorDL's site? He concentrates on Star Trek and Battlestar Galactica and other spacey movies, but those base tunics without the emblems are quite stylish. Gorodin's chain mail without the textures might work for you, too. Carolly

That's a good point Carolly, will have to go look. Thanks

LOL!! Carolly seems to have covered just about all the ones I thought of and more - I was looking for a site that used to do fantasy and SF characters and their clothes, but it seems to have disappeared. Hope you've found what you want, chohole :)

Search MWA in the free section, for MWA:s Jeans for Mike. They have their own .obj and conform nicely :) There's other stuff there as well, including textures. I don't think anyone else covered these :)

sandoppe ( ) posted Sun, 06 April 2003 at 10:33 PM

Where's the "grand dad shirt"? Steve who?

LaurieA ( ) posted Sun, 06 April 2003 at 11:10 PM

Poserstyle has a free base mesh jacket for Mike which looks just like a tunic, but I think you have to group it and set it up to conform yourself. Maybe not. Doesn't hurt to take a look :o). Laurie

hauksdottir ( ) posted Mon, 07 April 2003 at 3:40 AM

Sorry, the Grandad shirt is for the P4 male. It is by Steve Shanks with textures by Rena.

chohole ( ) posted Mon, 07 April 2003 at 10:17 AM

Yes I am actually cursing that I didn't use the m2p4 hybrid fig, as there seems to be a lot more things that would be suitable for him, but am not going to change him now. He is looking quite like the pics I have. I will get there. somehow.
