Subject: Dual monitors.

Back in my (relative) youth I really liked using a dual monitor setup with the Macintosh. It seemed much handier to keep palletts and things off to one side, than trying to cram everything into one (even large expensive) screen. Instead of doing my taxes today, I finally got around to finishing archiving everything on the old PIII, and moving the (now six month old) Athalon 2000 onto the main desk. New machine has a Matrox G550 which supports dual monitors, so now I'm running two! [PIII sitting there sadly waiting for Linux.] Anyhow, the ancient, ancient Nanao monitor that I spent a fortune on is now sitting beside a four year old Viewsonic. The viewsonic is definitely green. Guess I'll be doing some calibration... No real purpose to this post, other than it delays taxes a bit longer. I would be interested in knowing if anyone else finds dual monitors useful, and how they manage the color calibration across two monitors? Seems to be related to Don's colorspace theme...

I'm pretty sure that fictic has a dual monitor set-up..... unfortunatly there's not enough space on my desk for a 19" and 21" monitor....plus all the other crap like printers and scanners...

Damn, Misha, another real purpose to this post is to annoy Mikey when he thinks he's caught up with the posts in THIS forum ready to move on to another, and he suddenly realises someone else has posted YET ANOTHER thread..... tch. Do some taxes as punishment. (",)

...wasn't enough space on mine either until I moved out most of the dirty dishes...

Oh....I just keep my dirty dishes in a pile in the corner of the room.....lol....so that's not a problem for me....

About a month ago I went with a dual monitor set (21" KDS & 19" Dell) I have yet to calibrate them correctly, but have them fairly close. I really like the two monitors!!

I like the two monitor setup myself...so handy for all your toolboxes and palettes! The Matrox G550 is a nice card...but I have been too lazy to really try and calibrate colours across both monitors...one of the main reasons being that one is an LCD and one is a CRT...I've adjusted them by eye as close as I can get but it seemed an impossible mission so I sort of gave up! (Yep, I'm lazy) :-)>

dual display? check out triple :) would be a really nice setup as for me, i have got two 17" that have got definite colour differences, so i usually use the better newer one for graphics and the other for everything else

I run a triple monitor rig. I have a Radeon 7000 powering my main monitor and an old school tV, along with my old voodoo PCI powering the old monitor in the middle. The tv isnt particularly useful for most applications, except for when Im doing sound work for a video (see above pic), in this case, it makes all the difference. the G550 is a nice card, i agree, however the Matrox Parhelia is on my wishlist, 'specially for its 10-bit per channcel colour capability and plugin for photoshop (a nice jump from 16.7 million colours, to several billion....) as for calibration, i dont give a rats ass about the TV or the Voodoo 3 monitors, all my work goes on my (absolutely sick) 19inch flat samsung screen... (sick because of its .20 dot pitch!)
