Subject: Images worth viewing...

Colorblindfool ( ) posted Sun, 06 April 2003 at 3:23 PM · edited Tue, 10 December 2024 at 6:45 PM

Could anybody recommend any artists genuinely worth viewing on this site. I've been told to look in the hot 20 but, to be honest, a lot of the images in there aren't the best on the site, although some do deserve to be in there. I'm not a Poser artist myself, although I know someone who is and who posts on this site, and I do study art at college, mainly more the traditional side but I believe it is good to have knowledge in a range of areas. If anybody could recommend artists, particularly those whose work looks almost photographic. Surreal images would also be interesting. But let me know who you think is worth looking at so I can see more of what the forum has to offer. Thanks.

Hmm, Toxic Angel's gallery is the first that comes to mind for me.

Opps...and Pinky and Oliver's as well. Elusion has some excellent stuff, LaurieS and LisaB too.

Depends what you're after, for example, I do a lot of cyberpunk/sci-fi/short story stuff, I'm not technically brilliant, but I try to do storytelling with my images. For pin-ups Wusumah's gallery is quite nice, they're adverts for his clothes to be sure, but they do look good, Moebius87's gallery is a good example of a modeller at work. Perhaps try browsing for favourite subjects, I do this all the time and come across some gems. best wishes Jody

I'd recommend hobbit, even though his work usually has more of a painterly, Hildebrandt style than photorealism.

I'd go for David Ho (anybody remember exactly what his nick is?) and Dragongirl. Neither does photorealisitc stuff, but they show you just how much somebody can get past the software to produce their own individual style. For some book-cover quality sci-fi art, try Franky. Or were you specifically after Poser stuff? All of those people I mentioned use Poser, but in combination with other software.

Julian_J does some of the most convincingly photoreal art I've ever seen, though he usually seems to work with Maya, not Poser.

Want to sort your way to the best- go through others galleries- when you find someones work you like- look at their artist page - see who THEY have in there favorite artist list- then do it again :) Youll find some really fantastic art along the way :) I've been :) geo

Try voodoo as well. Not photographic, but excellent examples of the craft of digital art :o). Laurie

i started to pitch in...but, there are so many i really like, and their styles are so varied. i just gave up my list to suggest that when you find a picture you like....click on the gallery link to view more. all of the genres are different...so are the styles. hard to pic favorites.

Also, search the Poser Forum for "Hidden Treasures" posts, which are recommendations for particular artists.

I'd toot my own horn here, but I have yet to find a "Style" and stick to it.

I dont have a style l I just try new things & hope they work. That way Im learning & growing as an individual. It doesnt matter to me if its photorealistic or off the wall . It an experience & fun.

kbade ( ) posted Mon, 07 April 2003 at 9:41 PM

Well, I'm humbled that lelionx mentioned me...I don't see my stuff as ranking with the others mentioned! Anyway, in addition to some of the others mentioned above, check out Catharina Przezak's gallery for near photorealistic textures. Zrincx also does fine realistic texture work...any realism in my stuff is due to him. And though I believe SteffyZZ no longer maintains a gallery here, you might check her work at zs3d.com.

kbade ( ) posted Mon, 07 April 2003 at 9:43 PM

...and two more things. One, Zrincx is also one cool dude. Two, A_ just did a portrait titled "What's In A Name?" in a pretty realistic style.
