Subject: Importing Props

In reponse to LoboUK's last inquiry regarding my question regarding importing props: I downloaded BARN, containing one cr2 and one rsr file and some 14 JPEG texture files which I was told by the author to install into Poser Textures 3 folder; the other two went into the props folder. The prop shows up fine in the Poser interface. When I bring it into the document, a dialog pops up asking me to open the texture files. So that's what I did. Once it worked and it assembled all of the pieces, another time I got some but not all the pieces. All I want to know is, what should I do with this? Apparently I'm doing something wrong, but I don't know what. If the props and figures I have imported and placed in the correct folders in the heirarchy seem fine, why am I having problems with the document? I also converted the JPEG files to BMP files on the advice of the same author. The author is Steve at www.poserworld.com. Thanks. Mike.

If you want to do this quick and dirty - put the textures in the same folder as the CR2. Poser will look there first anyway. If all of the textures are placed properly at assembly it should show up OK. The thing is: if it was assembled with JPEG's it will not find BMP's and v.v. Open the CR2 in a text editor and go to the end and see what the textures are and what the format is. If you make a folder in the characters library named "Barn" you can keep it all together, and store it off site (eg. CDR) when not in use.

Also, once you DO have it fully textured/sized/assembled, go to the Props Library and add it again, but with the same name. This will replace the one that can't find the textures with one that will.

If it is a PP2 instead of a CR2 - all of the above applies except that it goes in the props library. If nothing moves or is posable - props might be better - the files are smaller.
