Hello everyone! First and foremost let me say that I am very impressed with all the artwork shown here at Renderosity!! You guys are amazing! I have Poser 4 and from what I see here all of this is soo overwhemling! There is so much to do here! lol. Can you please be so kind as to direct this beginner in the right direction as to where I can find some very basic tutorials that will guide me on how to use this program? Any help would be very much appreciated! :D

The help files included with Poser are a very good way to start learning the basics. They aren't very in depth, but at least they won't weigh you down with technical stuff early on. There's also a link at the top of the page where you'll find tutorials, there's the Poser Technical forum on this site, and also visit DAZ and check out their Arcana section for another set of very good tutes. The link will take you to the front page of their site.

Look for Dr. geep's Poser Primers. You can find them here by doing a search on Primer Dr. geep was also kind enough to let me host them on my site as downloadable .pdf files. (I have most of them up.) Huolong also has a "I Have Poser, Now What?" tutorial which is aimed at new users as well. You can find it here at http://www.renderosity.com/messages.ez?Form.ShowMessage=1055117 or on my site (hosted by permission) as well. My site is at http://www.fallencity.net Feel free to stop in and look at our tutorials at Rendie and read the FAQs as well. Cheers! Crescent

Well, to get a really good idea (like a classroom) look for anything geep in this forum (Search hyperlink from here). Then if you check out the tutorials here at renderosity for poser - check what is available - if you do not find enough there to wet your whistle - there is a Links to tutorials there - Use it! The oldies sometimes are the best. But if you are just starting (I mean from zip) then you will want to look for newbie stuff and not the morphing, lighting, etc. quite yet. I personally like: http://www.fallencity.net/lore/index.php http://www.dacort.com/tutorials.php (helps to explain grouping) http://www.morphworld30.com/tutor.html (a little adv but not too bad and teaches how to add parts to characters) http://schlabber.org/html/tut00.htm (for that difficult job of posing) And, my there are so many folks out there helping newbies, intermediate and even advanced users - I am sure some more folks will offer you there favs - right quick ;-) Good luck and when you feel like the question you need to pose is dumb - DON'T - cuz this is a nice neighborhood who loves to help each other.

I have two tutorials called "10 Tips for Poser Beginners" that should help with some of the more common problems you might run into. Click on the little Tutorials link up above and check the Poser section to find them. Hopefully they can be of some help. :) SnowS

Glad that you're aboard.. Once you get the basics of Poser you'll have a great time... and then its all trial and error. Please feel free to ask the people here anything you are having problems with and you should get good clear advice, and if anything isn't clear (sometimes we tend to drift off into poser-speak) just say :) Happy Rendering -=SimderZ=-

Hehe isn't it typical? We greet every newcomer to this looneybin, finding comfort in the thought that yet another soul is lost for the outside world. Oh yes, I can still vaguely remember how wind and sun felt :o) But with Poser around, who NEEDS wind. Poser 5 has wind, isn't that enough? ;o) Seriously, Essence29, welcome and as others have said: Don't feel you're asking stupid questions. It's only stupid NOT to ask :o)

You just can't put the words "Poserites" and "happy" in the same sentence - didn't you know that? LaurieA

Welcome to the end of your credit rating, Essence29...:P
Seriously, Don't worry about DAZ3D, yet, focus on learning what Poser can do and what you can do with Poser renders in other programs (like Photoshop, if you've got it)... The stock models are perfect for just learning to use the program... Also, take a stroll through the tutorials section here and pay carefull attention to any poser forum thread with a title like "Can this be done in Poser 4" (you'd be surprised how often someone figures out how to do what was thought impossible)
