Subject: Creating and selling items for Daz models

Can someone please tell me what can be created and sold for the Daz models? I am a little confused on this issue. I thought that as long as you did not include the OBJ file everything else was fair game.

Also is it ok to create a "new" character using the Morph dials but based on the Daz model? If so, what files besides the CR2 need be included in the zip?

Would be nice if Daz published an e-book on this. I can find no real information on the site.

Any help from thoes of you who sell your products on Renderosity would be greatly appreciated. Greatly!!!!

They're no easy to find from the DAZ home page, but there're extensive FAQs at DAZ that attempt to clarify this - there's also Email contacts to send specific questions and concerns to for clarification.

What can be created and sold? http://www.daz3d.com/pages/broker/brokerfaq.html http://www.daz3d.com/pages/faq/faq.html 1) New, original morphs - i.e. you take the base figure and use magnets or take it into a modeling program and make the morphs yourself. Even then, you have to strip the morph file so it only contains "v lines." http://morphworld30.com/tutorials/squishing.html 2) Textures for the models. They must be completely original. You can NOT use anyone else's textures as a starting point, not even DAZ textures. 3) Clothing for the models. You must make those from scratch. You can not take someone else's model, cut it up, and add stuff to it. 4) Textures for clothing models. 5) New, original props. (Guns, cars, etc.) Okay, if you make a character for Vicki 1 or Mike 1, then you can use the .cr2 files. Vicki 2 and Mike 2 have custom information in their .cr2 files that makes it illegal to give away (or sell) the .cr2 files. The reason is, it makes it unnecessary to have V2 or M2 if the .cr2 files are redistributed. What you can do is to create MOR files that load just the dial settings that V2 or M2 users need. These are just like MAT files, but they store dial information instead of material information. For V3, there's an added layer of complexity. V3 uses morph injection. You'd need to create a MOR file that also loads the morph at the same time. It's not much harder to create than a regular MOR file. The link below has information on how to manually create a MOR INJection file. DAZ has since released a utility that will create the files for you the INJection Pose Builder. http://www.renderosity.com/messages.ez?Form.ShowMessage=1014633 Not many packages sell well if they're solely based on dial settings. The only one that I think sold well was the Bishonen Mike package. (I could be wrong, but I stay away from "dial setting" packages unless it's a small part of the purchase.) Nowadays, it is considered the minimum to include readme files, MAT files (for characters), MOR files (if the character has dial settings and/or morphs), and professional thumbnails (.rsr/.png). Without knowing more about what you want to sell, it's hard to say what else is needed. I'd strongly suggest you purchase an item or two here that are similar to what you want to sell so you get an idea of what is considered professional level products. (It's not a random plug for the Marketplace here. RMP has the files in .zip format, so you can see all the files included in the package. DAZ has a custom installer, so you can not see all the files at one time - they automatically install on your hard drive.) This should get you started.
