THE PLACE FOR ALL THINGS BRYCE - GOT A PROBLEM? YOU'VE COME TO THE RIGHT PLACE

Hi all

For those that might have seen this already in a post I made in the Rhino Forum, I'm sorry you have to look at this again.

Even though I modeled all the image objects in Rhino, I created the above Test Rendering in Bryce. Therefore, I thought everyone here in the Bryce Forum might enjoy seeing it.

Any and all criticism are welcome.

There are a number of problems with the rendering and I would be curious to hear from Bryce users about what they think works and doesn't work in this image.

For one thing... I made the plastic bottles far too reflective.

I was thinking about trying the lighting methods for faking radiosity in the image, but it already took so long to render with 4 spot lights and the sun left on that I opted out at this time.

I may yet try faking an HDRI rendering with this image, providing an environment for creating better reflections on the image's objects. But, eventually I will be modeling an environment for the objects.

Oh... I should say that these bottles and cans will not be the main subject in the final still life. I'm just starting with the mundane objects in the still life before I model the strange ones.

Thanks for looking.

I have no problem looking at it again :) Your works are great!

Incredibly beautiful render! I especially like the slightly bent bottle caps. The only thing I can think of that could improve this image is this: the light shining through the toppled beer bottle seems a touch too yellow. Maybe a very low-ranged radial light with a brown gel, placed right under the neck of the bottle? Ah, who cares! Great pic!

OMG! This is amazing!!! I can't critize this at all. It is perfect!

Stop... Your going to make me blush. ;-) Seriously, though, I'm just trying to aspire to the wonderful work I've seen in this forum by AgentSmith and others. Thank you for the critique Jaymonjay. To anyone else that looks at this, don't hold back if you see something wrong or would like to see something improved in the image. Thanks again.

This is really very nice. I like the bottle caps too. There's one thing though. You used softshadows and glass, but you didn't render in Premium-mode. The result of that is the stripes on the bottles and the lines in the shadows. These artifacts are gone as soon as you use premium-mode. Problem is that rendertime will skyrocket. It's up to you to decide if you find the rendertime that comes with premium too long.

Great modelling, great render.
