Subject: Will there be a Stephanie 2?

PapaBlueMarlin ( ) posted Sun, 13 April 2003 at 6:42 PM · edited Wed, 01 January 2025 at 3:18 PM

I know there is going to be a Michael 3 and that Michael and Steph come from the same mesh. Does this mean that there will be a Stephanie 2. Also, will there be MilKids 2.0 from Vicki 3.0?

queri ( ) posted Sun, 13 April 2003 at 8:55 PM

Stephanie kinda is a second generation Mill figure coming from Mike 2. I have my doubts about Steff 3. And MillKids, considering the talk from Daz is how little sales they have with them. Wouldn't mind another female or male-- prefer another male. Like that's gonna happen. Maybe they could do that with Steff 3-- do a complete androgyne. Emily

I bet that Stephanie was only an in-between spanning V2 and V3 in time. I may be wrong, but I doubt there will be more Stephanie development (at least in the near future)

Stephanie was really kinda a collector's Limited Edition item....a special release figure. Much of what she represented and was capable of was directly aborbed into V3. In a way V3 is very much V2 and stephanie combined. However we are working with someone who has created a Stephanie 2.0 equivilent. Not sure where they are in their talks though.

I wouldn't count on M3 being anything like M1/2 or steph. When DAZ released V3, the mesh was so different that nothing worked, not even with Tailor. I thought V3 should have been renamed since it clearly was not in the vicky line of models, but that's marketing for ya.

PheonixRising ( ) posted Sun, 13 April 2003 at 11:50 PM

the Mil names are really like software names. Even through radical changes the names remane the same. Under a new name, V3 would never have been as successful as it has been. And you are right, M3 will be nothing like M1 or M2.

Yeah, I know that in retrospect. It caught me off guard though because I was going to buy V2 and waited for V3 instead an kinda wish differently. But, clothing and textures are coming along for V3 and in time the community will be moving ahead. All that said, I'm still thinking about buying V2 just so I can use the clothing (The V3 to V2 doesn't accept morphs so its useless and the V3 uvmap version also doesn't accept morphs so again, useless). You remember when DAZ first came out with the Lo Res for free? I got it and here's an example. I really like it.

I'm sure this has been asked many times Anton, but any idea at all about how soon for M3? Also, I've been thinking of getting the Mil Girls but not if there will be a newer version from V3 - is that in the works too? My use with them now would be very limited so I'm not sure if I should wait or not. Hope it's not asking too much to divulge all the inside stuff ;)

Still doing promo renders, Anton. Got busy last week. Changed and added a couple things. Might send it tomorrow if I get the docs finished.

PapaBlueMarlin ( ) posted Mon, 14 April 2003 at 2:05 AM

Perhaps in time, DAZ could develop Victor and Steph so they would have their own distinct meshes.

PheonixRising ( ) posted Mon, 14 April 2003 at 3:16 AM

No idea on time frame for M3. maybe the summer. I don't know. I have no information or know of any plans to build a new child. It would seem likely but I doubt it would be this year.

Ok, thanks, looks like I'll get them then, most likely if new kids come out there will be an upgrade for owners of the first version, it seems to be a Daz policy at least with Vicki 2 to 3. Looking forward to the new Mike, after Vicki 3 I find it hard to go back to the others!

PeterWahoo ( ) posted Mon, 14 April 2003 at 5:39 AM

I can't help wonder if the reason the Millennium Kids don't sell well is because there aren't many clothes (etc.) to go with them?! It seems that Poserworld (PWFW) and Serge Marck are the two biggest contributors of stuff for the Millennium Kids. PWFW has also released many items for Vicky 3, and that really impresses me. I'll have to save up some money to subscribe!

Joerg Weber ( ) posted Mon, 14 April 2003 at 8:07 AM

hm... I was thinking about creating a set of winter-clothing for the MilKids. Does anyone know if the joint-parameters for the female kids are equal to the male kids?

Crescent ( ) posted Mon, 14 April 2003 at 11:20 AM

Eric - Netherworlds released a V3-V2 hybrid which does use V2's body and morphs with V3's head and morphs. You can find it in the FreeStuff area. You will need to own V3 and V2 for it to work, but it will give you the best of both worlds. Cheers!

EricofSD ( ) posted Mon, 14 April 2003 at 12:20 PM

Yup, cresent, that's right. I could buy V2 and use that program and then I think buy the texture converter and use that too. If both work together, then that's fine, but if not, then I'll just wait for more textures and clothing items for V3. Quite frankly, I really don't want to hybrid the V3 model. Its a very fine model and very well done. What would really light my rocket would be a program that would convert V2 clothing to V3. (Tailor just doesn't quite work and I'm a clutz in the cloth room.)

I think the tutorial has moved to Daz Arcana.

Joerg- I'm not sure about the joint parameters question (that's over my head) but I know the both the boys and the girls wear the girls clothing pack. That is why the clothes are androgenous rather than being "girly". Both figures are based on Victoria and use her skin texture maps. I hope that helps. I have both sets so I can test out an item if you need me to. -pigfish

Yup, helps a lot - that's all I needed to know. Thanks
