Just about finished but who knows .......I'm not totally happy with my lillypas so I might still do it all over again.

Very good work. My suggestion with the lily pads is that you put them at different levels on top of and below the water level. That would give the image more "realism".

I think it's looking really good. My suggestion on the lily pads would be to make them slightly thinner and drop them slightly in the water. How about a little reflected green light on the pier? Maybe an old tin can to go with the pole? Hey, I've got some worms! Excellent work, Stacey mclarsen (Chez)

Stacey, Looks good! The tops of the vertical pylons look too fresh cut compared to the rest of the wood in the peer. Something to experiment with would be maybe using a boolean subtraction between the ends of the pylons and a terrain map that was generated with noise. Hopefully that would give you an eroded rough looking top. Just my 2K millicents worth. Vern

Vern's comment is exactly what I thought. The decayed planks and the brand new pylons don't look quite right together. Import that cylinder into the VM and mess it up. Also, if you have Noise Deform (comes with the Carrara Power Pack, which is available at my site). Apply that to each one and rotate them for some variation between pylons. http://www.losthorizonsoftware.com/galleries/One/one.htm check this picture out to see what I mean. Brian P. Very nice! I do agree with the above about the posts. As for the lilly pads, aren't they much flatter and less glossy than that? (I live in Arizona; we don't have many of them around here, but I have seen them before....) I really like the reflection off the end of the pier. It gives the idea that there's something else outside of the frame -- a complete world. Nice touch. The purple flowers also add a nice splash of color to keep the scheme from becoming monotonous.
