Aw Steve I know its a hassle but having your stuff work for Mac would be so greatly appreciated. I'll Mac beta any time for you. Don't mean to grovel...just could really use any version of your converter. ;-) -jay

I agree with Jay7247 regarding the Mac version. Please think about it! I'd be happy to help you with the beta-test on aMac version. Phil

How can it be 'Universal' if it won't work on Macs? I saw your topic heading and my heart leaped, only to be dashed as I read your actual post. :(

Dave ( ) posted Tue, 15 April 2003 at 12:09 PM

I think it's more or less universal between models, not platforms folks. Dave

Thanks for the applications folks - we'll be checking through the PC specs to get a nice even spread, and will contact you in the next day or two. Developing a software package for PCs and Macs are worlds apart. Unfortunately it is not a case of clicking the "make Mac version" button. I do not have the knowledge, software or hardware to develop for a Mac at this time. cheers, Steve

I don't suppose there's anyone in the community with knowledge of programming for Mac, and converting from PC?

I'm no programmer, so my information is limited... but depending on what language was used to create the program, there are ways to port it to the Mac that are much less complicated than they once were. Particularly with OSX being UNIX based, and its compatibility with Java based programs and applets. (There's more info on Apple's website, if you're at all interested.)

If there is someone who could somehow collaborate with you on creating a Mac version of the texture converter, I'm sure the Mac users in the Poser community would make it worth the effort. I can't speak for everyone else of course, but I would be willing to pay a bit extra if it was necessary to cover the additional development. I've been involved in the Mac industry on a professional level in the past, and I'd be happy to see what information I can find out if it would make the process any more appealing to you. :)

I realize its not an easy process to consider, but companies like DAZ have been supporting both platforms for Poser (such as their Morph INJ Program) successfully for quite some time and may have some insight to offer.

Best regards,
Molly

Will those who purchased your original program be getting free updates - you said in one of the Forums, I think, that they would. I'd sure like to hear you say it again though. :-)

pokeydots ( ) posted Tue, 15 April 2003 at 9:28 PM

Dragongirl, I seem to remember that we will get the update for free :)

Fashionably_Late - remember that companies like Daz have a whole team of developers. In 3D universe I'm it :-) Also, this program uses a whole lot of very Windows specific code - I use a lot of the same functions that Windows itself uses to draw windows. Porting to Mac would not be easy at all... I did investigate "RealBasic" at one point, but its not quite at the stage where it will be able to easily convert my VB code. DG/pokeydots: Yes - for a limited time only, owners of "V2-V3 Texture Convertor" will get the upgrade for free :-) cheers, Steve
