Subject: Warping Objects

I've been using Bryce 5.01 for about 4 months and of course love the software - probably too much. My question is simple, does anyone know of a way to warp a sphere into a plane? I want to animate a sphere unwrapping into a flat plane in order to illustrate the process of map-projection. I know you can't warp objects in Bryce - it says so in the help files and in Real World Bryce 4. Is there a way around this by some means or, possibly would you know of a package that could produce such an animation? I don't want to just flatten the sphere into an almost 2D object since the picture texture I am mapping (an earth map) won't be completely on one side and won't be of course rectangular or square as I would like it to be.

only way I can think of is to boolean the sphere until it is almost a flat plane. Boolean by the way, is grouping together positive and negative objects. The negative objects become invisible when grouped and cuts out the desired amount of the positive object (dont know if that made any sense). I bet some others here can come up with good ways of doing this, but its the only thing I can think of. If you want more in-depth instructions, just ask and I can attempt to explain. Hope my rambling has helped.

The object you want to cut bits out of should be positive, the object used to cut out the parts should be negative. When you group them together set the group to intersect. All the pos, neg, inter, commands are found in the atributes box (A) which is in the drop down list when you right click on the object. HTH. Catlin
