Great ship! Link doesn't seem to work. Is it just me?

Ed: The Viking longship is beautiful, but there's just one little flaw: the planking should follow the sheer--i.e., curve and taper to follow the upward curving of the stem and stern. I realize that that is a tough assignment, because you then couldn't use ordinary plank texture maps; you'd have to create one that was specific to the model and draw in the plank seams to follow the curves. Maybe a longer-term goal? Great work, regardless. Bob

Thanks for the replies guyz! Am aware of the planking/curve concept and actually had the original with planking modeled right on to the ship. The file size just became completely un-email-able though. Texture mapping the pattern on is a problem in bryce because of the complex shape of the hull in profile (kinda of an ogee shape) and the planks stretch to much in width from top to bottom. My goal with all of the models I create is to make them usable in Bryce (I use it as my lowest common denominator) and leaving the hull as a smooth shape and applying a texture from bryce seemed the best option. If one applies a plain brown texture and doesn't smooth the hull, you can actually see the mesh lines following the contour of the bow/stern. Again, thanks for the replies, always glad to get feedback. Ed
