because if you go to daz and have a look at the cat suit product page, you'll see its has a great deal more material zones than V3's own body! plus it will give a more natural and realistic look to tight fitting clothes, rather than the painted on look... http://store.daz3d.com/catalog/product.php?pidx=2313&paridx=0 I for one think its an amzing item of clothing. very great job DAZ!!
I was asking myself the same question when I first saw it too, haha. It does have a lot more material zones than V3's body, but I'm not sure how important this will be when the only sorts of clothing you can really make with a catsuit are extremely tight-fitting ones. It looks to be an excellent product if you need highly detailed skintight clothing, but it also seems a little expensive for the artist who might only need an occasional tight outfit and can use V3's own subdividing materials instead. Heh, just my opinion as always though. :) Take care. SnowS

Well there's one thing that the body suit does that the mat zones can't, transparencies. Okay this doesn't seem like a big deal until this scenerio happens.... Wanna make a black woman wearing white lacy underthings or even translucent silks. Your black skin texture has the most fantastic tattoo that you want peeking through the lacy outfit.... boom. Problem... you have to choose one or the other, the texture or the lace.... or you can try to build your own texture.... never mind that the texture for the lacy body outfit was done for a pale skinned woman and the obj color will darken the skin but it'll also color the white lace... So with the current system, short of making your own textures for each and every case, you can't do effectively transparent outfits without serious work or giving up large portions of your specialty character textures. Here's where the suit comes in, put your lacy texture on it as a transmap and boom, now you can see through the lace to the actual body texture that you wanted to use. Makes a lot of ideas far more possible.
That's actually a good point about transparencies, thanks for explaining. I'm too tired today; can't think creatively... ;) SnowS

with the Platinum Club membership, the suit came out to $14.95. Not really a bargain for just 1 item, but imagine the possibility if you are into rendering comic characters. That alone made it all worthwhile. JV

I just bought the thing, too. If I had any kids I'd have sold them for experiments, too. I would not be selling my cats, though.

"Maybe I should sell the rest of the kids off for scientific experiments." Ouch! If Vicky were real, I would definitely go for the '73 Eldorado convertible, crushed velvet suit, fur coat, platforms, hat with a feather and put Vicky and her skintight outfit out on the corner to earn some money :-) Oh Superfly...

One thing to remember is that Daz likes to issue expansion packs so you end up with an item and then suddenly they have fabulous textures that go with it. I'm not saying this will happen with the catsuit. But I wouldn't be suprised if they or someone else doesn't use it to build some fabulous outfits on. Just a thought.
I use my membership all the time, best investment I made at Daz. I would hate to figure the amount I would have spent without it. No doubt there will be some great packages later, not to mention the generosity of the free stuff. Nothing worse than finding a great texture and say " Damn, I can't use that."
I think the subdividing body / spandex edges thing is nice but it looks a bit flat and lacks any real depth. The new cat suit is like buying a whole closet full of clothes. I dont have to be a rocket scientist to make new clothes for V3. In no time at all the free area and Platinum Club will be bursting with new clothes for $1.99.
For instance, I think these look great... http://store.daz3d.com/catalog/product.php?pidx=2237&paridx=0 but before you can use them, you need to spend $20 to buy something that doesn't have much taste - in my opinion. http://store.daz3d.com/catalog/product.php?pcode=ps_ac384 I wasn't about to send $22 for the clone set.

:) Well, consider the possibilities of the different clothing items you can have in just one outfit. The possibilities are practically endless for just about anything but dresses. I have tons of ideas. :)

i save my money, and, buy programs. i just got lightwave about 10 days ago....soooo, will have to really learn it and try and make my own. everytime i forego something i would really love to have...like the morphing gown with the wonderful textures by lauries....i tell myself....you can make your own, self...you can LEARN, DAGNABBIT....and, yours will be one of a kind. (unless, of course, you decide to sell it.) p.s. lightwave is harder than wings, and, has way different controls....i think twas originally made for mac...but, it has some awesome possibilities.
d4500 said:I saw some great stuff for $1.99 but only to find out you need to purchase some of the base item at a higher price. but before you can use them, you need to spend $20 to buy something that doesn't have much taste - in my opinion. Yeah, the exercise wear looked dumb but at least three textures for it were wonderful and their cheapness balanced it out. This is why I ponied up the money to buy that set while it was on sale, plus the sale from platinum club. And why I will probably buy the catsuit even though I'm not sure I would use it much now. With the male morphs, it could be invaluable to me in the future. I'm kinda trusting Daz to come up with some killer textures and put them in the Platinum Club. Emily
Thanks guys. I am a member of Platinum Club (joined the very first day!!). I hadn't thought of transparencies I must admit. I have the Plat clothes and all Steve Shanks gorgeous creations so I might leave this - especially with new Koshini stuff up today. I don't have a lot of call for skin-tights after all. If they bring out great textures then I may be swayed! Thank you all for your comments - you are a great bunch!!
The Premium store V3 clothing seems to behave like some fungal disease - first we had a bikini, then it spread a bit and we had active wear, then the two patches met in the middle and we had the body shirt and now the poor lass's limbs are engulfed. I bought the Body shirt and fantasy gown at the same time a couple of weeks ago and felt that though the basket price was fair enough the indivdual item prices were the wrong way round. We get actual clothes for $1.99 (with the usual reservations about mostly young stuff) and bland skin-tights for $10-20 - something is screwy.
Queri: Yeah, the exercise wear looked dumb but at least three textures for it were wonderful and their cheapness balanced it out. This is why I ponied up the money to buy that set while it was on sale" When we saw the base set, we skipped it because it wasn't appealing enough. Later, the 1.99 textures came out when the base was no longer on sale... so it was a no-buy. Surprisingly, we haven't purchased a single item from the $1.99 club.
Okay :) I distinctly remember a "we better get a real catsuit" and a "we want more casual..sweatpant..nonfashion model clothes" post. I know there was a "how bout some textures for premier stuff in PC" post and a "how long are we going to have to wait for some clothes" post. The catsuit was related to the "We better get something to transmap" post. Sorry I don't have links.

I don't think you should interpret the discussion as a complete criticism. I, for one, am very happy to see the catsuit. It's more useful to me than all the bathing suits that have been available up until now. I like the lovely dress too. I am a Platinum club junkie. More casual, nonfashion model clothes would be nice. That isn't a catsuit from my point of view, but I guess I'm weird that I don't lounge, shop, or work in skintight clothes or ballgowns. But I figure one has to wait out all the fetish and fantasy gear....eventually the real life stuff surfaces. And Daz offers amazing textures...what I like about the Platinum Club is it often has the mini-paks so I can buy textures I like and skip the ones that are useless to me. I've got the catsuit now. I think I'll be able to make some use of it.
But Anton, the skin-tight range isn't casual (or everyday, which is another request). Where are the DAZ-made, morph loaded blouses/shirts/trousers/skirts etc? It's true we've had the SF Uniform and the Adventurers, but apart from that all of the interesting (and all of the real world) clothing has been PC. I'm not begging to spend more, you understand, it just seems odd.
lol. Personally, I'm going back to making what I want to make.

I see a contest idea coming up in the near future from daz. something about creatively using the V3 catsuit.

I skipped most of the prequals to the catsuit hoping DAZ would release one, and was glad they didn't disappoint. With transparencies, the catsuit can be a bikini, active wear, and sleeveless bodysuit. Definitely an all-purpose item! Now, I'm crossing my fingers the mapping is the same (that would totally make my day!)

OK, am I being particularly thick here or am I the only one wondering why I NEED the new catsuit. Vicky 3 has a highly subdividing body so I can create catsuit type clothes directly on her, including the spandex edges - like with the Second Skin set. This obviously allows all morphs to be used. So why would I want the Catsuit? Please let me know the benefits and I might change my mind - after all I have succumbed to just about everything else for the spoilt little madam!!!
