Now this is a cool site...especially for someone like me who's just starting to get a clue ($1.95 at WalMart for a small one -- I'm saving up for the jumbo size at $10.95). :o)

Innovator ( ) posted Fri, 18 April 2003 at 4:29 PM

oh, anyone know I can create a light dome in bryce, w/o rhino??

Aldaron ( ) posted Fri, 18 April 2003 at 4:34 PM

Yes just use the sphere primitive ans set the mesh resolution to whatever you need for how many lights you want.

Okay,.....this is all well and good, but be forwarned, this method takes a fair amount of render time, even on normal setting. And you may have to tweak the dome yourself to get exactly the effect you want. It does however produce very nice results. I have used it in several images recently. Do an author search for sackrat and look at the image "Sax and Edison" This image was my first using this method, hence the simplicity. But it's pretty trick as far as the final render, just be prepared to wait for the results.

I fear no rendertimes. My record is a render of 19 hours straight.

Only 19h? I had over 70h for a special picture with very complex light and shadows using 2 Computers (1.8GHz)working on it. g Thomas

should be 19 days sorry. (that's a really stupid typo.)

My longest render was 5 days and I thought that was a long time. You must have the patience of a saint. 8) Catlin

I set it to render before a 2 week exam period. I didn't really mis my computer very much because I had little time to use it anyway. When the exams where over the render was finished too.
