Subject: Gallery thumbnail and image problems - Please help

Dragontales ( ) posted Mon, 21 April 2003 at 7:28 PM · edited Sat, 11 January 2025 at 1:17 PM

Does anybody else have a problem loading the gallery thumbnails and images? Starting Friday, I can't seem to get 95% of the thumbnails to load and most images. This seems to be only isolated to this website. I've gone to Renderotica and Animotions, as well as many others and can't find a problem there. Why would I be having a problem with this site? Is it a setting somewhere, is the site having problems, please, somebody help me. I need my R'osity. Thanks Dragontales :)

are the image size and file size within the limits posted on the upload page?

Dragontales ( ) posted Mon, 21 April 2003 at 8:08 PM

Sorry, guess I should clarify. It's not just my images that I uploaded, it's the entire site's gallery. Everybody's images and thumbnails.

I should also probably add that it does NOT happen to the images on the front page or the marketplace, etc. Just the Gallery!

do you have cookies enabled. there was a thing sometime back about having cookies enabled to see the pics in the gallery

here is the article about the cookies

I thought that may be it, but apparently not. The problem is on my laptop, so I went line by line and compared all my internet settings with my desktop. As far as I can see, everything is the same. The other weird thing is, sometimes it will load a thumbnail, then if I hit refresh, that one won't load, but maybe another will. If it was cookies, I would think all the thumbnails would be blank. Instead, I get random ones. AARGGHHH...I'm ready to break the F#$#king thing!

have you tried deleting the temp files? Maybe something in their has it screwed up. Sorry I cant be of more help... I just checked the gallery and the thumbs are working for me...

I had this problem not long ago. It was in my IE (internet explorer)and that's where I found the problem. Mine was not showing the pictures and then it would change just like you are describing, so you might take a look in there if you are using IE for your browser. Go to the word "tools" on the top of your browswer bar, click on 'tools'. Then go to "internet options" and then to the "advanced" tab. click on 'advanced" and scroll down the list of items listed with check marks. Look to see if you have a check mark in "show pictures". If it's not checked then that may be your problem. This was my solution to get mine to work. Hope this helps. Good luck Sea Crystal

Something else to check is the date and time. If they're not accurate (not down to the millisecond of course, but within an hour or so) it can cause problems.

my settings are fine but I get red x's on the thumbnails all the time...having a 33.6 modem on a dialup doesn't help mind but it is worse than it used to be. A refresh using does the trick though but that's a pain as usual.

Dragontales ( ) posted Tue, 22 April 2003 at 8:12 AM

Ok, checked all of those things. STill happens. I've tested it out on my home Cable modem and the Lan at work, and still happens. It doesn't happen to my other computer, it happens no matter where I'm logged in, I've checked all the settings. I'm starting to get a nagging suspicion that one of the windows updates is screwing with something. I think right around this problem popping up is when I installed yet anther one of those updates that XP downloads for me. It's the only thing I can think of at this point. The problem isn't quite so bad, usually it only takes me three refreshes for the thumbnails to ALL load. And only two for most images. Hopefully the next update will fix this, or I can figure out what's going on, because I can't surf this site this way for much longer. Thanks for the help, and if anyone thinks of something else to check, let me know. Dragontales

Hit the 'Leave' link in the sidebar. (It doesn't delete your account or anything daft like that.) Close all browser windows. Reopen your browser and clear your cache, including the 'Delete all offline content' option if you're using IE. Close browser. Find your cache folder with Explorer and manually empty out anything left in there (there may be some hidden folders so use View/Folder options from Explorer to show hidden files.) Find your cookies folder and delete any with 'renderosity.com' or 'bondware.com' in the name. Come back and log in again. If that doesn't work, ya got me beat ;)

I thought you might have had it, but nope. (sniff) still no luck. Guess I'll just have to quietly slip away from R'osity.

Bummer :( I really don't know anything else to try, sorry :(

I'm just kidding about leaving of course, but this problem is definately a bummer!!

It cleared for me once I totally deleted the cookie, signed out and back in.
