What to do. What to do. I'll try to give you people the medium length version of this. 3 years ago I bought a 3D camera. It photographs with three lenses for lenticular (sp) 3D pictures. ( Not the R/B glass kind ) It was not too expensive but for how it looks it should have been cheaper. Additionally I was led to believe that the film was processed in several places across the US. Which was apparently was not the case. Anyway I use the camera and send in my film for processing. My roll was a causelty of the US postal service. The company returned my check for $26.00 for processing the film as there was none to process. One year later I decide to use the camera again. When I am ready to mail the film I discover that the copmpany I bought the camera from is sending their business to another company and the cost has increased. I never get around to mailing the film because of this. Another year and another roll later I finally decide to mail it in. I discover now that THAT company also has folded and is sending their business to another company. Which is charging almost 4 times the cost of the original company. I also learn that according to the internet only ONE company in the US does this kind of processing and they are it! I decide to thing about this because now I have two rolls of film. I decide to mail it three months later. The cost per roll of film is currently $65.00/roll! However because of the multiple lenses a 24 frame roll only yeilds 18 pictures ( I think ). sheesh!!! I finally decide to send in my two rolls pay the $100 + in order to salvage what is apparently a bad situation. Before the prices increase again. As this company seems to be very stable due to large clients ect. I'm sure it will still be in business. My check is cashed one week later. I wait a few more weeks for my pictures to arrive but no pictures. I call them and learn the standard processing time is 4 - 6 weeks. And they expect to be done with the picture within a week. =:-P I receive my pictures about two weeks later. Out of 2 rolls of 18 I sent in apparently only 17 were usable. =:-( Mutiple exposure ( Oh yeah, I only can take 18 pictures NOT 24. I forgot! ), fogged film ( I fogot and opened the camera once - my mistake ) ect. Inserted was a polite note which stated that I should NOT rotate the camera and to always use the flash. Because only 17 pictures were usable and some of the frames were rotated which ruins the 3D effect I was only charged for 12. I currently have $45.00 or so of credit. Which brings me to my problem. I can use the credit on another roll of film, buy another camera with 4 lenses which apparently is more professional and costs aprox. 50%less to process. Or hang on to my camera and vow never to use it again unless I REALLY have to.

The pictures are really neat. Kinda small though they appear to be 4 X 3 or something and I have an option for a 5 x 7 enlargement. However the color is kinda off. Too green shifted. The red seems correct but everything has sor of a brownish - greenish tint to it. I'm not sure if it's because the film has sat around for so long or if it's their processing.

I have one roll that's two years old and another that is one year old they both seem equally colored shifted. I think if I decide to I can have the roll developed somewhere else and just pay for getting reprints. BUT what doy people thing. What should I do. What would YOU do. Did my story bore you are you still awake. CLAP CLAP hey wakeup! =:-| Bsteph

I'm not really up on any of the 3D photo technologies, (only have one eye, so have always wondered what all the fuss is about???). Sounds right off-hand that you should just write off the whole thing as a mistake, and hope someday the camera has value as a collector's item? I know there are still folks out there who are rabid 3D fanatics. I know no details about this three lens approach... Perhaps if you knew the mathematics involved, you could just get conventional processing at JiffyMart, and combine the images yourself?

Are those the kinds of photos that you can twist a bit from one side to the other to get that special kind of depth ? They got a hard plastic top with those edgy lines running from top to bottom, right ? (don't know how to describe them precisely :) We used to collect those photos. There used to be a large book with empty squares and every two pages were about a different country or a special building....the idea was to collect those when you bought something (no idea what, maybe gasoline or something ? Esso perhaps) and if you collected them all, you ended up with this awesome photo book with those great 3d photos. Those shots are so awesome!

I would do as Misha suggests, take the hit and hope the camera becomes a collectable. One of the reasons I suggest this is that just last year the images that Rork is talking about above has been taken to the next level. There is now a way to print these on inkjet printers. The technology is still expensive and outside the reach of most print companies, but it is there. Are these fantastic 3D prints? I don't think so but there was a company that was trying to get the company that laid me off in October to buy into it. They wanted us to develop drivers for the lage format printers that we wrote software for, machines like HP5000, Cannon BJ9000, Epson 10000, etc. Keep looking at the print technology, that is where 3D will break through first, then 3D cameras will be developed to match.
