Subject: V3 Fantasy Collar

Vampi ( ) posted Fri, 25 April 2003 at 11:45 PM · edited Sun, 24 November 2024 at 5:10 AM

I'm wondering if anyone knows how to get rid of the black that shows up when rendering a picture with the fantasy collar and bracelets? The texture itself shows up, but then there is black where the rest of the collar is. I also have this problem when using 'Secret Elegance' lace textures with the V3 basic action wear...what am I missing here?

Are you using the MAT poses to apply the textures? I haven't had any difficulty with the collar... do not own the basic wear set. It sound like a transparency issue of some kind though. e.d.

Yes I am...I realized that I have the same problem with hair and eyelashes...if I do any portraits, the lashes come out as a soft black line across the eye instead of lashes...

Which version of Poser are you using? 4 or 5? e.d.

I'm using 5...

Your MAT Room settings should look something like this.... If they do, and you are still getting the black sections, it might be in your render settings.. e.d.

I'm pretty sure the transparency is set at 0.6 for some reason...and I'm not sure about the highlight...I'll work with it now and see how it turns out...thank you so much for the visual!

Well, I don't understand what's happening. The transparency was set at 1.0, but the transparency fallout was set at 0.6. I changed it to 0, but I'm still getting the black around the edges even though all my settings are the same as what you have. I'm at a loss. I don't do anything different for the render...I have it render with Firefly...

Two things... try setting the transparency edge to 1.00. Is there a bump map or displacement map in there? That's what it actually looks like to me now that i see it... it looks displaced. e.d.

Vampi ( ) posted Mon, 28 April 2003 at 2:55 PM

This is maddening. There's no bump or displacement map....I set the transparency edge to 1.0 and it did nothing different. This is very weird. Wonder why it would automatically default to these settings anyways. Well, thank you for your help :) I'm guessing I'm just going to have to forget about using these things.

evilded777 ( ) posted Mon, 28 April 2003 at 4:53 PM

can you post your mat room settings? I am really perplexed... I loaded the same collar texture and it looks fine. e.d.

Okay, this is what comes up as a default...I manually change the falloff from 0.6 to 0.0...

evilded777 ( ) posted Tue, 29 April 2003 at 4:56 AM

wow, I am really stumped. BTW, been looking at your gallery images... nice! Somehow, I don't think its your render settings. Is your P5 patched to the current version? ... I'm grasping at straws now... e.d

Vampi ( ) posted Tue, 29 April 2003 at 9:19 AM

hmmm...that could be it...I haven't installed any patches and I've had the program since November

evilded777 ( ) posted Tue, 29 April 2003 at 11:45 AM

oooohhhh.... you really want the 2.1 service release. But I hope you have a broadband connection.

Vampi ( ) posted Tue, 29 April 2003 at 5:31 PM

I do....gawd, I hope it works LOL

evilded777 ( ) posted Tue, 29 April 2003 at 6:43 PM

I think you will find it fixes a bunch of stuff.

Thank you so much for your time and suggestions...I'll give it a shot and see how it goes :)
