Does anyone know of a very detailed "Rapier" mesh available (Three musketeer style), most of the ones I have found are not very detailed, and low in poly, so that any textures I apply to it end up looking really stretched and distorted. I have to do a close up of such a sword, and would like to make a very detailed texture and bump to go with it. This is why the low poly meshes wont suit me too well. I would even give this texture (once it is done) to anyone who would like to create such a weapon for me if there isnt one in the market.

3DModelz do a very detailed swept-hilt rapier, I don't own it so can't comment on the quality: http://market.renderosity.com/softgood.ez?ViewSoftgood=11204 Basket hilt might be more appropriate for what you wanted, though. I haven't spotted a high-poly model of one, I'm afraid.

Aye..that is a nice one...but you are right and I do need one with the cup or basket. Hopefully someone out there can help with that. Rawnrr

I'd offer to try making one myself, because I can probably get good digital photographic references from several angles- I can hopefully borrow an 1800s rapier with an intricately worked basket hilt from a friend of mine who's got a nice little period sword collection. I'm working on another project at the moment though, so won't be modelling anything else for a bit. Let me know if photo references might be useful, I can do those anyway. If you're still hunting in a couple of weeks I might have some time then to try one myself.

The one at 3DModelz does have a cup and then there is this cupped hilt claymore but I don't remember where I found it, maybe someone else can recognize it? (3DModelz's on the left)

These probably won't meet your needs, but I'll post them anyway in case anyone else is interested:

I have a morphing one here in freestuff if you want.

That looks like Willjen's claymore....anyone heard or seen him lately? The morphing rapier in freestuff is very nice.

Thank you...it's by my hubby Dogface(the morphing rapier) when last I heard Willjen was in the process of reconstructing his site http://www.willjen.com

Willjen sounds right, he had quite a few very detailed German blades. Hope he comes back soon! The ones Little_Dragon found are nice too! most need to be mapped for poser but all have good material zones to make it easy. Here's the one from Cacheforce (Lynnart's gotta fantastic Cutlas too!)

Rawnrr, If you haven't found a rapier yet you might want to look at this one-rapier and morphable dagger plus some poses. http://home.twcny.rr.com/lunaseas/

I must remember to remember what it was I had to remember.
