How about a upgrade discount from Worldbuilder 3 to Vue 4??? I have worlderbuilder 3 which I detest and really want to get Vue, any chance of a side upgrade for that?? I have emailed e-onsoftware and never have been given an answer to the question.

UP-grading to Vue? From Bryce? You've got to be joking... Next we're going to "UP-grade" Photoshop to Microsft Paint?

madmax_br5 ( ) posted Tue, 29 April 2003 at 3:50 PM

Nice offer, but i'm not going to pay 100 dollars for an "equal" software package, as hawkfyre put it.

Rochr ( ) posted Tue, 29 April 2003 at 4:19 PM

This is an "Upgrade", meant to get more people switching apps, from Bryce, to Vue. Nothing else! No thanks! Vue may have a bright future, but that doesnt mean that Bryce is dead! If ill have to choose, Bryce is the superior modeler, AND has a better interface. Vue is nice, but not that nice! You may want to attract more Poser users though. Importing animations are apparently easier in Vue...or so ive been told. :)

From what's I've played with in the demo of both applications they both have their strong suits. Vue is more poser freindly than Bryce. AND both are much better than Worldbuilder, I'd buy both cheap to get away from Worldbuilder, their tech support, and costly upgrades. Since I have Lightwave for modeling bryce really isn't needed for me, but I'm interested in Vue, but don't understand why there is no upgrade-side grade for VistaPro users or Worldbuilder or other competative applications. I payed $400 for Worldbuilder, I don't want to have to pay an additional $200 for Vue when Bryce users get a side upgrade discounted price, only reason I have not bought Vue as of yet, though I desperatly want to buy Vue. Oh well, I guess I wait on th side lines.

If you think I'm CHANGING from Bryce to Vue...forget it! You couldn't GIVE me a copy of VUE! IMO..Vue is a Vistapro rip-off.....

Aye, now that it's finally come down to this kind of thing, feel free to hate me for saying this, but : I hate Vue. Vue d'esprit? What, is that supposed to be French or something? "View of the Spirit"? The only thing even remotely Esprit-related I'm down with would be the Lotus Esprit, which is NOTHING like this silly french program. I have nothing against French women, mind you, but I'll go ahead and feed off of my own ignorance and say that, although I appreciate the offer, I hate Vue. Not because it's a french version of Bryce. But because I just need something to vent on, right now, and that's that. (bows deeply)

I have both and each has it's strong points. Frankly I do feel Bryce is easier to use and love it's interface, but it was also my first 3D app. You can't beat Vue's Poser importing abilitites from Poser... definitely a time saver! And the plants are fantastic. Nice offer and all the best, I do keep my fingers crossed that Bryce will find a new home though... one a little more nurturing than Corel.

What we do in life, echoes in eternity.

The fact that E-ON is calling this offer an upgrade, means that they claim Bryce is a lesser app. Dream on guys... As a Bryce user, i take your offer as an insult!

Rochr, I must defend this meaning. Of course I know you all love your Bryce:-). To upgrade to Vue is not because e-on thinks that Bryce is a lesser application, but gives you the chance to have Vue4 for a lower price then if you would buy it as an entire software:-) Guitta

:-)right. But it also means "to extend the usefulness of..." (in my Webster dictionary) :-)Guitta

Rochr ( ) posted Wed, 30 April 2003 at 11:08 AM

True! However, this whole deal is about marketing/recruitation. "Upgrade Now FROM Bryce 5 TO Vue d'Esprit 4 for $99!" Doesnt sound like extention to me, more like a trade...

gebe ( ) posted Wed, 30 April 2003 at 11:48 AM

Here is a clear answer:-) The "upgrade" of Vue d'Esprit 4 is a FULL Vue 4 install. You don't loose your Bryce 5 as you install Vue apart. This means that you can work with one or the other program independently. :-)Guitta

Rochr ( ) posted Wed, 30 April 2003 at 11:59 AM

Well, i already know about that! First of all, its not an upgrade. Second, Bryce doesnt have any upgrades besides the 5.01 Patch. And ive also had the demo of Vue installed. Now, uninstalled... Ive totally lost my interest in Vue, all thanx to this "kind offer". No disrespect towards you though, Gebe. I just dont like vultures, taking advantage of the current situation with Bryce and Corel. Offers like this can very well help out in killing of parts of the Bryce community. Not the experienced users, but newbies. Thats something i have a problem with!

I'd try Vue but my PC has too many issues with it. Besides, I'm happy with Bryce. =)
