Still going with my Mars obsession... Our "object" or shape, I saw as some kind of mechanical template, and decided to use it as the symmetrical lattice legs for a new Mars lander. Kinda flowed, after I got started! All Bryce, 4 and 5, with a Black Hole filter for the dust storm. All of the other terrains are straight from Mars heitghtmaps, thanks to the Viking missions! Yep, that's the Tharsis volcanoes in the back... And Olympus Mons. Not the most complex scene but I hope you enjoy it!

shadowdragonlord, I like that sky color, and the texturing on the terrains have a certain warmth to them. You can almost feel the roar of those lander's engines! Exellent! - TJ

while the atmosphere and the modelling are great, the noise on the ground turns me off completely, I don't know why. It cuts the realism into half :( good job on the rest though.

The ground noise could use some tweaking, but the sky is absolutely perfect.

If this is Mars, the sky should be PINK. Really, honest. I'm not kidding... Checkout the NASA shots.

that's not pink? o_0

Aye, I have been researching Mars extensively, and although I indeed appreciate the criticism, I must express that this IS an artist's rendition. THe atmosphere of Mars is rarely pink, due to the color shift and the low millibars of CO2 mostly. I won't go into the mathematics here, but alas, NASA shots SCHMASA shots. Next people will say that men landed on the moon back in '69! Anyone interested in Mars would benefit from Kim Stanley Robinson's series, "Red Mars", "Green Mars", "Blue Mars", all about areoforming the planet, making it habitable. You don't say "terraforming" on Mars (Ares-areoforming), nobody wants to turn Mars into another Earth. This is the definitive work on the subject, and I assure you our children and their children will have a chance to join this adventure! But I will consider making the foreground less crusty, in the post-production version...

Did you know they touched up the flags in the lunar photo's? BTW: Aeroforming will automatically create terraforming.

Well guess what, Shadow? Men DID land on the moon! So there! If you don't want pink...ok....no prob...I was just trying to be helpful. Controversy = it is told that one of the 1st machines to land on Mars recorded a small creature skipping across the ground, but this was deleted from footage released to the public.....and of course we have confirmed sightings of flying pigs here in Wales. What ever the truth...be sure it will bite you on the arse one day. And after all this.....I actually like the pic..especially the landers. Have a good one The Bryster

Thanks for your support, everyone! I didn't mean to start any conspiracy-based controversy... To hell with the moon, Mars is much cooler anyways. I suppose I'm a bit off in my own world, reading mad sci-fi tends to do that to me. May you always find water and shade, fellow artists.

Flying pigs? Must be worst than pigeons. Picture looks good.

Great looking image shadow and who cares if the sky is pink or not, it can be what ever color you want. Happy sci-fiing to you. 8) Catlin
