This is an "Upgrade", meant to get more people switching apps, from Bryce, to Vue. Nothing else! No thanks! Vue may have a bright future, but that doesnt mean that Bryce is dead! If ill have to choose, Bryce is the superior modeler, AND has a better interface. Vue is nice, but not that nice!

Of course this is an effort to get more people to use Vue! It is definitely taking advantage of the fact the Bryce seems to have a bleak future at the momment. That's smart business and I applaud them for that. If you would like to do things that Vue can do and Bryce can't, then this is a good deal. The applications are so similar in their abilities, though, that I strongly suggest that anyone interested try Vue for themself and carefully weigh whether or not it will be of benefit to them. (Yes, there are things that Vue can do that Bryce can't, and the reverse is very true as well.) Heck, I'm seriously considering the offer because it would make "some" projects quicker and easier and give me a few more options. I wouldn't give up on Bryce's future yet, however! Even if Bryce wasn't picked up by somebody and development discontinued, I would still use it for the things it does best. (Here's hoping that doesn't happen, though, and that Bryce has a bright future.) As for the interfaces these two programs use... I've got roll my eyes and sigh everytime someone says one is better then the other. I think Bryce has the Vue interface only marginally beat, but not by all that much. Both have their advantages and disadvantages, and I say that having used a "wide" variety of CG applications ranging from the low to high end (so called hobby to professional applications). This will probably get me stoned with rotting vegitable material, but... I'd love to see the best features of both interfaces combined. End of rant. 8)
IMO I think Vue is a Vistapro rip-off...

Alan-ASD I promise I won't vaseline or peanutbutter your keyboard(LOL), I do have both Bryce and Vue, been there, done that, and still here!! Predators can smell a wounded animal and sales is the nature of the beast, so I don't fault them for that. Both programs have their pros and cons. I just happen to find Bryce more to my personal liking. Different strokes I guess. If we all liked the same thing, we'd all be driving the same ugly car.
If you can afford it, It sounds like a good deal. That was infact the only way I was able to afford the Watcom Compiler. I would recommend that you check to make sure that any manuals are included before buying a sidegrade of Vue however. I still don't have manuals for Watcom and because of that it is much less useful than it would otherwise be. I'm still hoping to sidegrade into MAX or Lightwave but I doubt that will happen, and I just spent my hundred upgrading to Poser 5 so it'll be a while before I can sidegrade to Vue anyway.
I won't give any special motives, you all already know those, but I'll stick with Bryce. In Italy we have an old folk song that says "Il primo amore non si scorda mai"... or, "You will never forget your first love". S. :) PS: Draculaz: "This sucks donkey gonads" <--- amazing idiom! Got the podium in my fav slang sentences of the month. LOL
Draculaz, That was the very same reason i filled out their form as well. But hey, thanx E-ON & Gebe, ive suddenly lost all my interest in Vue!

I think they wouldnt have gone to trouble to do a survey if this was the only result. I have asked people at e-on software about buying Bryce, but they avoided answering my question. I think if they were not intrested in buying Bryce they would say so. I have always good support from e-on, and the people from e-on visit the Vue forum and seem to care. If they buy Bryce I think they would try to find a good solution for Bryce users. chikako

It seems to me that many are waiting for an upgrade to Bryce that may not ever appear. Now I own Both Vue 4 and Bryce 5 but do not use either so much now. Bryce was my first 3d ap though and I loved using it. Bryce is powerful in unique ways, Its fractal terrain engine for instance is hard to beat.It seems to me ther are a lot of disappointed Brycer's out there and I feel for them...but maybe times have moved on? I had a look at pandromeda yesterday and saw Mojoworld. It seems to me, especially given the people that are developing mojoworld that it could be the natural progression from Bryce anyway, What do people think about this? I for one feel pretty excited about the direction Dr Musgrave and colleagues are pushing this technology...maybe the Bryce/Vue debate is not so important, what about true fractal world creation? Are many people migrating to Mojo? I am certainly thinking about it...
Doc Mojo is interested in buying Bryce, but Corel still asks too much for it. Anyway, I think we had a consensus here that it would be a very nice thing for Doc Mojo to buy Bryce and do some crossover between Mojoworld and Bryce. He even asked for a wishlist in the case he acquires Bryce. Which is (much) more than people from e-on did, AFAIK.
