THE PLACE FOR ALL THINGS BRYCE - GOT A PROBLEM? YOU'VE COME TO THE RIGHT PLACE

Subject: Lol...Forgot to post my own April Challenge entry

Final entry. (For now) Post-worked a handful of ugly edges, and tweaked the color, brightness, etc. Pre-work...was a handful of water splashes made in Photoshop, then 2D faced in Bryce with the render. "The Shape" accounts for 30 of the 77 major objects in the scene. I'll do a larger render later with other things I had wanted to do in it. Or, maybe I won't be able to stand it and try add more before midnight tomorrow, lol. I'll have to do a camera fly through animation of this, the detail of the structure just cannot be truly seen here. Thanks rj001! AS

true artwork..

"Reinstall Windows" is NOT a troubleshooting step.

My word, that's intense artwork. I love that.

Terrific -- all that's missing is the giant squid! :)

looks awesome. i really like the water. you took this in a completely different direction than what i was expecting from your early WIPs.

Looks like one of the scenes from Myst 3: Exile! Very cool.

Amazing piece of work!

Hey, is that shark with a frickin' laser on it's head?? :) Good thing you allowed a time extension, or you wouldn't have been able to post your own entry! Lin

You have talent to which I aspire. Stunning!

AgentSmith ( ) posted Thu, 01 May 2003 at 2:27 PM

Lol...someone noticed the sharks! I think they are too subtle. Actually, I finished the pic yesterday afternoon, but it didn't occur to me to actually post it. (I'm slippin') Yeah, this thing sorta has a life of its own. I had planned for an entirely different scene, but this one just kinda came together. I had made the structure in an enclosed cave with hanging lights everywhere, but it was a little boring and took forever to render. This version only takes about an hour. AS

Man that's probably the best seawater Iv'e seen! Don't know what to say... it's amazing!

Kiera ( ) posted Thu, 01 May 2003 at 6:18 PM

Fantastic! I am sure it was intentional, but I will mention that I really like how the texture of the thingie-machine darkens near the water line. Nice attention to detail. =)

AgentSmith ( ) posted Thu, 01 May 2003 at 6:29 PM

I looked at pics of oil rigs (on the ocean). Anything metal that touches the water eventually just looks corroded and black at the water level. I cheated a bit, but if it was just black, you really wouldn't be able to make anything out. i.e.; my lame attempt at making a layer of barnacles at the water level. AS

The fish are just right. You shouldn't notice them right off.

Awesome! If you don't do a tutorial on that water i'm gonna die! LOL!

AgentSmith ( ) posted Sat, 03 May 2003 at 12:42 AM

Lol, I will, but it's just terrain stacking, basically. That, and days of tweaking channel levels. Thanks for the comments, everyone. AS
