Subject: Update on SR3

Curious_Labs ( ) posted Thu, 01 May 2003 at 10:17 PM · edited Sat, 07 December 2024 at 6:01 PM

Hi, It seems I've broken my first rule of not posting an expected release date unless it can be 100% certain of happening on time. From a report read today, there are a small set of actions in SR3 having some inconsitant results. This needs to be further tested in order to isolate any possible cause. I sincerely apologize for the frustration this delay may have caused. It may only be a minor delay.....but I will do my best to keep you updated. With kind regards, Katherine

Thank you... ready when you are. :)

Hey Katherine, Its actually nice of you to keep us updated, whether positive or negative...at least we now know what's up :) On a side note, now that you guys are holding it a bit longer, how about throwing in some of those fixes brought up on that other thread. OH...PSS : are you guys working on a plug in for Poser to Carrara ???

or poser to lightwave...? :) yep, being kept "in the loop" even if it's not great news is better than no news at all. wish more companies knew that! looking forward to the release and hope it'll be a good one. ren

reiss-studio ( ) posted Fri, 02 May 2003 at 12:37 AM

poser to lightwave will be coming :)

Great to hear from you. This is what we call interactivity. Or giving feedback to the customer. Thanks, Tony. Any news , good or bad is better than leaving us in the blind and Guessing around. (Remove the gu and put in a M)LOL.

Hope Poser SR3 behaves and doesn't locks up while rendering and lets me cancel a render without locking up. I have been pulling my hair out with the current release lately. I have a bunch of my files to test it out as soon as it comes out.

FishNose ( ) posted Fri, 02 May 2003 at 4:49 AM

Cool! Info is always good, even 'broken' promises. :] Fish

asmith ( ) posted Fri, 02 May 2003 at 7:09 AM

Yes, thanks for the update, but when reading the updates, I didn't see anything about fixing the hair collisions problem. Is that in the works?,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,Asmith

Marque ( ) posted Fri, 02 May 2003 at 8:14 AM

Please fix the hair. Marque

SimonWM ( ) posted Fri, 02 May 2003 at 8:31 AM

The hair collision was my main gripe when the beta forum was up, now my expectations are so low I'll be happy if I can at least get the renderer not to lock up.

pdxjims ( ) posted Fri, 02 May 2003 at 12:17 PM

I'd rather CL caught a bug now before the release than after. Take you're time, we've waited this long. A SR release that doesn't introduce new bugs or lets old ones creep back in is the primary goal. As for what we want in it, well, it's too late now for any new fixes to be included in the SR. I'm sure that when it comes out, you'll get a complete new wish list for SR4. Thanks for the info.

Not to knock reiss-studio but there's already a good Poser to LW pluggin - Greenbriar Studio has a very nice pluggin set available. I'm a LW newbie and I found it very easy to import a Vicki figure when I tried it. (Now, if I could find a plug in to give me more time to work in Poser and LW, I'd be a happy camper!) ;-)

richnovak ( ) posted Fri, 02 May 2003 at 1:23 PM

does that plugin allow for exporting poser5 animations to lightwave? i'm curious because i don't see where it specifies p5 exports. then again i've been up for many many hours right now too... sleep good...

graphicnovel ( ) posted Fri, 02 May 2003 at 4:52 PM

how about that plugin for poser5 to max???? that would make my life so much easier........

reiss-studio ( ) posted Fri, 02 May 2003 at 6:03 PM

Attached Link: http://www.reiss-studio.com

poser 5 to max (4 and 5) is also on it's way. Max will be released first :)

Also if anyone has any issues with the current max plugins(propack)... we want to know about it! just send an e-mail to service@reiss-studio.com
let us know, and there's a good chance we can fix it. we've already fixed the transparency bug (you know, the one in the eyes).

cheers,
-Josh

(ps, please don't attach files when you e-mail, although a .jpg is ok, we'll ask if we need the file for a test case)

graphicnovel ( ) posted Fri, 02 May 2003 at 6:06 PM

Thanks man, I trully hope it comes soon .... It's a pain to move all the files from poser to max and back and..... well there you go, thanks, if there's anything I can do just let me know yours vince

sandoppe ( ) posted Fri, 02 May 2003 at 6:25 PM

Thanks Katherine :) Don't rush.....get it right. We've already seen enough of those "inconsistent results" :) My wish: Poser 5 interface with Vue d'Esprit.....please!!:)

redon634 ( ) posted Fri, 02 May 2003 at 9:30 PM

I agree - there's no hurry - we can wait for something that works without a hitch. I'll second that wish for a Poser 5 to Vue interface, particularly the hair (although it actually seems like due to the way the hair is created the hair may actually have to be added in Vue?). I'm also realizing, as I'm working on my current project, that what I would like to see in Poser the most is a simple point light...

richnovak ( ) posted Fri, 02 May 2003 at 11:35 PM

so there is already a poser--->lw plugin available. plus one is "on the way" from reiss-studios, and CL says that they're developing one too... wonder what the difference will be between the three...

reiss-studio ( ) posted Fri, 02 May 2003 at 11:52 PM

Actually we're developing the official plugins with curious labs (as it mentioned in the press release) the CL, and reiss studio plugin are one and the same :)

richnovak ( ) posted Sat, 03 May 2003 at 1:22 AM

good deal. looking forward to that. any timeframe we can expect it?

who3d ( ) posted Sat, 03 May 2003 at 6:11 AM

Many thanks for delaying the release in order to make it as consistently stable as possible. Good news IMHO :)
