Subject: April challenge - Your favourite song

TrekkieGrrrl ( ) posted Fri, 04 April 2003 at 12:13 AM Ā· edited Sun, 01 December 2024 at 11:02 AM

Whatever that means to you. Not album cover art, but the essence of your favourite song. Hope that's clear? :o)

That's clear enough... now the problem is deciding which song is my favorite! :>

dialyn ( ) posted Fri, 04 April 2003 at 11:24 AM

Nice challenge....sounds like fun. Hope you don't mind if I post it over on Paint Shop Pro forum...they get forgotten sometimes.

TrekkieGrrrl ( ) posted Sat, 05 April 2003 at 2:37 AM

No by all means, post it in whatever forum you normally go to :o) I've posted a link in the Poser forum coz that's the one I call "home" ;o)

I like the topic. When are the images due and where do we post them?

Fractals will always amaze me!

RaysOfLight ( ) posted Sat, 05 April 2003 at 11:30 PM

i have made an image of my favourite song a short while ago with poser, is that eligible, or do i need to make a new one?

TrekkieGrrrl ( ) posted Sun, 06 April 2003 at 4:44 AM

I'm not sure actually. Someone more used to competitions please answer this? Personally I would say it's ok as long as the pic hasn't been used in other contests.

well then, i'll make this an entry. inspired by the Ronan Keating song that's written to the side of it. i hope it's allowed :) i hope i'm posting it in the right place as well! heheh

Kixum ( ) posted Mon, 07 April 2003 at 12:59 AM

You should post images here in this thread. They are due a couple of days before the end of the month. Then we all vote on the winner and the winner gets to pick the next months theme. -Kix

RaysOfLight ( ) posted Mon, 07 April 2003 at 1:22 AM

alrighty :) is the link fine to use, or should i post the picture?

RimRunner ( ) posted Mon, 07 April 2003 at 9:34 AM

Thanks Kixum... Correct, we'll announce the final couple of days, so if you haven't finished, you get a "5 minute warning"... then it's open voting to anyone in the forum for the winner. If the image is too large, at least post a link to the image here, so everyone will be able to find it. :)

RaysOfLight ( ) posted Thu, 10 April 2003 at 7:00 AM

chohole, that's a really nice one. i don't know the song, but it sure sounds good :) i like how you put different races and animals and professions and all that together. very very nice :)

chohole ( ) posted Thu, 10 April 2003 at 8:57 AM

Its a John Lennon song, a real peace anthem if there ever was one. Thanks for your comment RaysOfLight.

I have never submitted anything for a challenge before, but I did an image a while back specifically about a Moody Blues song that might qualify.

dialyn ( ) posted Thu, 17 April 2003 at 7:41 PM

That is lovely, CavalierLady. I'm glad you submitted it. The entries this month are quite moving.

RimRunner ( ) posted Fri, 18 April 2003 at 9:16 AM

Ahh... the Moody Blues.. that brings back memories. :) Some great fractal work in your gallery Cavalier. :) And a cool entry to the challenge as well !

CavalierLady ( ) posted Fri, 18 April 2003 at 9:26 AM

Thanks, dialyn and RimRunner! :)) I haven't fractaled in a few days... actually been looking thru some of the other galleries, which is how I happened here. So much great digital art work out there!

sandoppe ( ) posted Sun, 20 April 2003 at 2:21 AM

How many days left in this challenge? I'm working on something, but not sure I'll finish in time.

Hopefully this challenge is still going on! I've provided a link to the image which is in the gallery. The sone is "I Hope you Dance" by Leeann Womack....sort of a country song and not too typical of my favorites, but I love the lyrics and the message: Here's the lyrics: "I hope you never lose your sense of wonder You get your fill to eat but always keep that hunger May you never take one single breath for granted God forbid love ever leaves you empty handed I hope you still feel small when you stand beside the ocean.... Whenever one door closes I hope one more opens Promise me that you'll give faith a fighting chance And when you the chance to sit it out or dance.... I hope you dance! I hope you dance! Time is a wheel in constant motion always rolling us along. Tell me who wants to look back on their years and wonder where those years have gone... I hope you never fear those mountains in the distance Never settle for the path of least resistance Livin' might mean takin' chances but they're worth takin' Lovin' might be a mistake but is work makin'! Dont let some hell bent heart leave you bitter When you come close to sellin' out reconsider Give the heavens above more than just a passing glance And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance..... Dance!!! I hope you dance...." Thanks for doing the challenge ernyoka1 :)

dialyn ( ) posted Sun, 20 April 2003 at 10:18 PM

Love the sense of joy in that picture, sandoppe. Thank you for posting....I like that that song too. :)

sandoppe ( ) posted Sun, 20 April 2003 at 10:33 PM

Thanks dialyn :) Roxanne is a joy to work with....and the free poses added that extra "zest".

dialyn ( ) posted Thu, 24 April 2003 at 6:55 AM

Beautiful, Azha. The use of color and textures really captures the mood of the song. You all are making it very hard to pick a favorite.

Attached Link: Linha do Equador

ok, Here's the repost of the link to my entry "Line of the Equator" inspired by Brazilian jazz artist Djavan's "Linha do Equador." The song and piece are a dedication to my mom. Lyric: Line of the Equator Light of the stars Bow of the infinite thus Pink Taste in such a way of it turns yellow Voice of all shout Taste in such a way of it This thus immense one, love Goes beyond either what it will be Goes beyond where I go Of that I am, my pain My line of the Equator This immense one, love I go beyond even what I will be I pass more beyond the Sky of Brasilia Trace of the architect Taste in such a way of it thus Taste of sun Music of black Taste in such a way of it thus This discourtesy of passion I am madness of the heart My Estuary of the Igua South Pole, mine blue Light of the feeling naked This immense one, love Goes beyond even what will be Goes beyond where I go Of whom I am, my pain My line of the Equator But is candy to die in this sea to remember and to never forget If I had more soul to give I would give, this for me I am to live. Odd in English but so beautiful in Brazilian.

Rhapsody In Blue - By George Gershwin. I love his music, and this is my favorite. Fractal created in UltraFractal 3.01. Best wishes to all! Tresamie

Fractals will always amaze me!

dialyn ( ) posted Sat, 26 April 2003 at 9:36 PM

Lovely music, lovely fractal. You did a good job of capturing the rhapsody in the graphic. :) Fractals seem like a visual expression of music, in a way, don't they? Good to see a challenge bring out different techniques. The diversity is a nice change.

RimRunner ( ) posted Tue, 29 April 2003 at 6:11 PM

Last call for entries. Voting set to start Thursday Morning. :) Good luck to all !! Some awesome entries.

When does the voting end????

RimRunner ( ) posted Fri, 02 May 2003 at 10:41 AM

We'll give it a few days to collect enough votes. Kind of still waiting for it to begin. ;)

dialyn ( ) posted Fri, 02 May 2003 at 11:33 AM

Well, I posted a reminder on the Paint Shop Pro, Poser, and Fractal and Writing forums, where I hang out. But after all, I guess I should at least vote myself. I loved the theme and the beautiful graphics that resulted. If I can choose only one, I will pick CavalierLady's Mandy Sunday. But it was a very close call for me. I liked the graphics very much.

chohole ( ) posted Fri, 02 May 2003 at 12:33 PM

I go for Sandoppe's I hope you dance. I love the song and this image is so full of joy in life.

I'll vote for RaysOfLight... tender quiet emotions are so hard to convey, and he did a wonderful job of illustrating the song.

tresamie ( ) posted Fri, 02 May 2003 at 8:16 PM

I was kind of expecting a 'Vote here' thread, lol. I have been watching all of the entries as they came in, and I am so impressed by the beautiful work done by all. I would like to cast my vote for CavalierLady and that beautiful "Mandy Sunset"

Fractals will always amaze me!

jgeorge ( ) posted Sat, 03 May 2003 at 5:15 AM

OKay, here's mine: after a lot of thinking, very hard to choose just one, I'll go with CavalierLady too.

ChuckEvans ( ) posted Sat, 03 May 2003 at 4:51 PM

I like tresamie's entry, "Rhapsody in Blue". I think it is a difficult song to illustrate and the fractal did a wonderful job. I can almost see it "moving" with the music.

RimRunner ( ) posted Wed, 07 May 2003 at 8:45 AM

Well, counting up the votes, it looks like CavalierLady has taken it for this month. CavalierLady... if you would be so kind as to start a new thread for May's challenge. :) Congrats to all, very interesting theme and some great images all around!!

The doctor says I have way too much blood in my caffeine system.

dialyn ( ) posted Wed, 07 May 2003 at 9:47 AM

Congratulations, CavalierLady!!! Well deserved. Would it be possible to post next month's challenge on the front page? I noticed the Poser challenge is there....it seems like this one, which is open to all, is not as well advertised or supported.

CavalierLady ( ) posted Thu, 08 May 2003 at 7:33 AM

Thank you, thank you, thank you! What a surprise! Thanks to Tresamie for the IM informing me of this!! I get no ebot messages whatsoever from renderosity so it's kinda hard to keep up. Thinking about a new theme now, will post something shortly. Thanks ever so much for the votes. I appreciate it. Really, I was never one to win the stuffed toy at the fair, can't even win 3 bucks on the lottery, so if I am going to win something, it seems fitting to be for something I enjoy so much. Thanks everyone..:))).

tresamie ( ) posted Thu, 08 May 2003 at 9:40 PM

Congratulations CL! It's not often fractalists have a challenge they can compete in, let alone win! It was lots of fun tho. Tres

Fractals will always amaze me!
