Tell us more about your system, how much RAM are you carrying? I've just constructed some metaballs, both positive and negative using the same brushed silver material, then grouped them together and positioned them and finally rendered them without any problems. I'm carrying 512Mb of RAM on a 1 GHz, PIII using 64Mb GeForce nVidia card. What rendering mode are you using? If you don't think it's your system, try reinstalling Bryce.

Sorry guys have been really busy....ok p3 450mhz 128ram...but I dont think it is the system I can use brushed silver on every thing else but metaballs will reinstall bryce 2day and hope that it works. I quite often bring 4 & 5 poser figs into bryce and do brushed silver textures and render with superfine settings and with up to 80% volumetric atmosphere :) so I thought it might be a bug with the program :) I know that the amount of ram I hav is a little bit low. hope you can help bowen

i couldnt pinpoint your problem specifically but try defraging your drive, it may help. also, check the appz you may have running in the background, to free up some of that precious processor. it may be that your system just isnt configured/optimized to execute the functions your requiring it to do because of a whole host of reasons im couldnt even begin to imagine... i mean really... a 450? im surprised youve gone as long as you have to learn bryce, on 128megs of ram! AND on a 450! ah'm just ribin' ya.. ;) maybe it is a bug...
