So if you could have a perfect poser prop, what would it be?

The world Pinky, the World!

someone else to do the work in animation....? seriously, a prop that can be reparented (like a juggler with balls) during animation would be cool - dont think I have seen that one...

A high-poly sphere that had 100,000 different morphs and each poly was its own material zone, that could take MAT files... and the morphs would be for everything from a sword to a car to a hat to a dead parrot...

Remember, kids! Napalm is Nature's Toothpaste!

...This parrot is no more; it is an ex-parrot... I'm sorry, I had to. Valandar, now you have me grinning like an idiot and my husband is staring at me... :) As for the subject, I don't know if I'd call it the "perfect" prop, but something I'd love to have would be a "multi-seat", able to morph from simple wooden kitchen chairto a stool to a fancy cushioned throne to an overstuffed italian leather chair... I never seem to have the right seat around...

Poppi ( ) posted Wed, 07 May 2003 at 6:47 PM

no....not da' parrot!!! please, have a bit of sensitivity here. perfect prop....why a light that would turn into any kind of lighting with the click of a dial...from harsh flourescent, to all over candlelight, to beach daylight, beach moonlight, cannibal cave light....the do everything light would be my pic, as lighting gives me fits. and, please, recussitate that poor parrot! Pop..Pop...Poppi!!!

Poppi ( ) posted Wed, 07 May 2003 at 6:50 PM

oh, yeah...and the light would also multiply into smaller lights...like, if you wanted just the hint of a light on an eyeball...in a certain place. i would pay alot for this light, this magic light...although, i seldom buy anything except the "must haves". i would click on all the renders that used this light, as well.... man, i want this light YESTERDAY

a cape like on the lords of the ring, that would fit mike or vickey.hood would go down or up an the main body of cape would have folds.also have morphs to flare out from neck to base an conform so you could have a person riding a horse an have the bottom of the cape conform to the top of horses back side.

Richard, That was really 3 capes (notice the backpack straps and where they'd have to go through the cape to have it fall like that). As much as I would like a fully furnished Rivendell, I have to agree with Poppi's sentiment that the perfect prop ought to be useful for everyone in every circumstance... and that means lighting or territory. I remember the snit-fits I had looking for something which would give me lunar-styled craters; when I get back to that project, I'll build them in Bryce. If a plane has a quarter as many morph targets as on Vicki's face, pulling up a stalamite or pushing in a cavern, or pulling-and-pushing to get a crater shouldn't be that difficult. I just deliberately rendered an image with no lights, but the importance of functional and flexible lighting can't be overstated. Carolly

I thought we already had the perfect prop ....the DAZ Morphing Cube!

TrekkieGrrrl ( ) posted Thu, 08 May 2003 at 1:21 AM

carolly, have you seen RDNA's morphing terrain thingie? It does more or less what you describe there. Oh and makes moon craters too :o)

Ernyoka, Thanks for the heads-up. I'll take a look at it. Sometimes I don't need a whole landscape (like a Bryce scene) but just a small niche or corner or cave. Asteroids tend to be small, too, with a greatly curved horizon... the sort of thing where a prop would be more efficient than rendering a planet and micromanaging it into the size of a city blook.
