I am running wintNT and I have not had such problems with GL rendering losing colors, although I do not render much in Carrara so. My answer maybe somewhat un-educated since I don't render so much in Carrara but when I have done so, I have never had any problems such as those that you have explained. Oh and on the multiple monitor kick, I am still a single monitor type of guy so I can offer you no help there.
I have never experienced the color problem. On the monitor issue, I have a Mac with Sony Trinitons (20" & 17"). I use the 20" for the main window (4 pane view, Menus, buttons, camera controls, etc.) and the 17" for my brower, sequencer & property trays. I have those 3 set to where they take up all of the 17" monitor. I have never had any problems with this arrangement. I am using an ATI Xclaim VR (8mb vid ram) for the 17" and an ATI Xclaim VR 128 (16MB of vid ram) for the 20". In fact, I transfer the scenes between this and my laptop (so I can continue rendering at work when time permits) and although I am limited to a single monitor on the laptop, the layout is always correct for whichever one I am using. I figured when I went from a scene saved on the laptop to my desktop, I would have to re-arrange the windows, but it keeps track of it for me. I guess that is one thing Carrara does better than other rendring apps I have played with. Vern

While cruising the Onelist, I saw someone posted a problem with Open GL rendering losing the colors of models when the file is closed. They were concerned about the card they were using being the cause. I discovered this problem on my Mac (they're using WinNT) and thought it was a problem with my shaders or the models themselves. His solution was to switch to software render and the colors came back, mine was to recolor the models several times. I'm trying the other solution now. Has anyone here had a similar experience? Also, a question for any multiple monitor users out there - do you have any problems with preview windows, dialog boxes, progress bars etc. being scattered all over the second monitor (usually only a piece left showing) instead of showing up on the primary monitor? I've tried many different combinations for palette location and cannot solve the problem, except by returning to one monitor only.
